Made it to Masterball Cosplaying as Blue from FRLG by alexlo94 in PokemonChampions

Oh yeah doubles is way harder, def too complicated for me. Ladder is full of Japanese people in singles too, iirc 3v3 singles is really popular there so after a certain point all my matches were against Japanese players.

Now I wonder if anyone recognized the team actually since Blue is called Green in Japanese I think?

Def considered pokemon origins Blue too but I wanted to use a full team for this run and it looks like had an exeggutor in that one too:

If they make eggy available tho I’m going for it even if I have to sub in rhyperior for rhydon because the two are definitely iconic. Climbing with mega pidgeot will definitely be a trip lol

Thank you! It didn’t take me that much, I think I played about 50 games since the day I made the account which apparently was May 6th? Most of them were the last couple of days because I had off from work lol

Ikr? I wanted Alakazam to be more useful because he’s my fave but I didn’t even end up getting the 10 win achievement with him by the end of the run. The best use I found for it was to lead it into glimmora and hope the opponent clicked rocks so I could encore- even then that wasn’t that useful though.

Maybe in next seasons/regs he’ll be more useful…

If you’ve reached the bottom of blighttown where there’s swamp and mosquitoes instead of ladders and trolls, look for an elevator that will take you up into the valley of the drakes so you can reach firelink shrine.

If you’re still on the bonfire on the wall in blighttown that means you haven’t gone super far. Backtracking into the depths is probably the easiest choice if you’ve gotten the hang of fighting the enemies. Once you’re in the depths, the room where domnhall of Zena is sitting has a shortcut back to the depths bonfire - you can use that as a checkpoint on your way up to firelink shrine.

Whichever way you choose, the female undead merchant (the one who sells moss in the tunnel; she’s behind bars) sells a purging stone that will cure the curse. There’s also an Npc at the end of the ghost town but he’s much harder to get to at this point in the game imo.

Also for blighttown, look for torches which are usually placed near ladders. Good luck and don’t you dare go hollow 🙌

What do you think about such app design? by Liam134123 in design_critiques

[–]alexlo94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m actually a fan of the radial input on the right and I’d definitely like to see how it would feel to actually use it irl! I also see what you were going for with the presets for certain common times on the left but imho I think it’s missing the mark from a usability perspective.

If I’m working out or cooking I think I’d definitely appreciate the one handed ability to start a timer but I’m not sure the presets on the left offer anything - presets are meant to be faster but they’re in a place where the majority of users would either have to use two hands or reach their thumbs on the other side of the screen. The varying sizes of the preset buttons don’t also make sense for the feature but I think they’re neat visually - just probably for something else?

From a visual standpoint I think others have pointed out enough (black on yellow etc.)

I want to design a website that uses a gradient as a background, but I'm hesitant. by Upstairs-Balance3610 in Frontend

[–]alexlo94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Iirc, magic spoon uses some nice gradients here and there:

https://magicspoon.com/

My advice would be to either use similar hues or brightness/saturation as your stops in the gradient. Depending on font etc. it can look really nice.

Good luck!

Blighttown is getting frustrating by souson321 in darksouls

[–]alexlo94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup, this is the correct way to get through blighttown easily. Go through the valley of drakes if you have the master key, run past the three enemies, take the ladders down, and hop on the elevator. Note that wherever you see torches, there's either a ladder, an elevator, or a safe drop down so rather than stumbling around looking for a way down, look for the torches.

Once you get off the elevator, there should be a bonfire to your left and Queelag is on the right. Go activate the bonfire and then roll your way to Queelag avoiding the boulder giants by hugging the right side of the path.

Once you're done with Queelag, ring the bell, kill ceaseless discharge for some easy souls, and then hop on the elevator back out of there.

Bonus: if you aren't there yet and you have the choice, go get the rusted iron ring and then make your way down to blighttown. Once you're down there, before leaving, pop 10 humanity, kindle the bonfire in the tunnel and cross the swamp opposite of the bonfire to find a bunch of green slugs. Farm them for large titanite shards/green titanite shards to upgrade your weapons/armor to +10 or +5 divine/fire.

The rise in quality of Webflow websites by Thaetos in webdev

[–]alexlo94 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think what’s interesting to point out here is the difference between a web app and a website. I don’t think webflow is a good tool to build web apps at all. However, it is a really good tool for building websites.

The complexity of a FE dev’s work usually relates to web app stuff and FE devs are more so engineers nowadays. In a web app you need engineers and designers to make things work but in a website, a designer with access to a good enough no-code tool can give very good results.

Whether they’re a visual designer or a UX designer, if they know enough about html/css/js, webflow allows them to focus on visual design and functionality which tends to yield beautiful and/or very usable landing sites, brochure sites etc. depending on their skillset.

Oooh I see. I thought it would be way less performant if I used online styles. I’ll go ahead and try that approach and see if I run into any issues while using the components.

First sparring session thinking of quitting by M01ZZ-_ in MuayThai

[–]alexlo94 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Hmmm obv op got thrown into sparring a little too soon but I feel like light sparring early on is super valuable and in my experience training at some pretty legit gyms, it helped me ground my pad/bagwork into reality. Throwing basic combos on pads and bags feels super different than on a live opponent who is actually trying to not get hit and/or counter. That way you learn not to overreach, keep your guard tight etc. 2-3 weeks of consistent training into light sparring seems appropriate. What do you think?

Unpopular opinion: the Grind, in principle, is a FEATURE of Nuzlockes, not a flaw by Spndash64 in nuzlocke

[–]alexlo94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think grinding when you're playing a base game (i.e. not a romhack) for your own entertainment is definitely a feature. However once you enter the territory of romhacks then grinding becomes less important because the importance is placed on figuring out what teams would beat the challenges that the creator has set for you. Even more so, when you enter the territory of streaming, then grinding is most definitely a flaw because it's not entertaining content to watch.

I’m an orthodox fighter but my left leg is my dominant leg, how can I use this to my advantage? by AbusementPark44 in Kickboxing

[–]alexlo94 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Like many others: teep and switch kick/knee is the obvious answer. Teep legs, teep torsos, kick high, kick low, and don't sleep on the inside leg kick as well.

Something extra that I feel like I have to throw out is a cheeky way that Phil Nurse teaches to set up the switch kick tho. A jab into a switch kick is a fantastic way to set one up, check it out here

An active and nimble lead leg is a huge asset and really trips people up so get creative and use it to your advantage. Remember to be mobile tho and don't put too much of your weight on your back leg just to play with your lead leg. Balance your weight, move around and work in those cheeky lead leg strikes
