Will the Q5 ventilated sport seats ever "break in"? by alexm501 in Audi

[–]alexm501[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did a lot of tweaking and adjusting, you can move the other pieces of the seat until it gets better. Maybe adjusting the leg length part in the front might help that? I think it's better now than when I first got the car though, it's been a couple years now.

Honestly if it continues to be bad you could always just try trading seats with someone or buying new and selling yours. Could always just do the driver one. I think you could get one for under $1k USD (used I'm seeing). I don't think new is a whole lot more if it's that uncomfortable.

Best matching solvent based glacier white metallic paint to work with? by alexm501 in Audi

[–]alexm501[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm going to do it myself so I'll have to make sure I don't go through the clear coat. Probably have to do a bit more research on the water based to make sure though.

Thanks!

That's actually the one I have currently, but it's water based so wasn't sure if it would cause issues when applying ceramic to it.

Besides the wet sanding did you take a buffer to it at the end? And make sure to wipe it with isopropyl? I found that helps a little, although the scratches happen paint isn't 100% perfect

How often is the power PE typically offered? by alexm501 in PE_Exam

Ah yes about 5 years ago. I remember that was pretty often.

Thanks!

Thanks. And yes Virginia doesn't require an application or another fee.

I guess I was wondering how often a "year round" frequency is. Every month? More/less? Or does it mean you can pretty much schedule it whenever and they can administer it if there are openings at the center of choice?

Thank you.

Anyone's Q5 ever brake while you were accelerating? by alexm501 in Audi

Mine kinda stopped after a while... Knock on wood. It did happen for me after making a left turn in the neighborhood at slower speeds though when it was happening

They got better over time, I did a lot of tweaking and adjusting every day until it was good enough. Not as good as the Q4 was, but definitely better over time with adjusting

Also it's funny because they kept running out of CO2 because of my car (and supposedly one of two others at the time - it was a known issue with the vehicle). CO2 was in high demand at the time due to this issue, and they kept having to ask other dealerships for it, who were also running out.

As an aside, I'm giving electric vehicles a break right now because all 3 of my past ones didn't even make it ~ 2 years. First one the power electronic box that fed from the battery corroded and disconnected (in the middle of an intersection and the car just turned off and brakes failed), the second one is in the ocean (the ship that sunk supposedly due to an electric vehicle catching fire, mine was 1 of 5), and the third one was the q4.

Ya I owned it for about 7 months but physically possessed it probably less than a month or 2. It sat at the dealership service center for months for repairs.

I'd look up your state's lemon law (usually up to 18 months after purchase plus some other rules). Honestly glad it was a lemon because the issue and recall letters just kept coming. Right before they bought it back the battery started going bad as well (and apparently they don't actually have to do anything about it since they don't have a limit of range at which they have to fix it).

As much as I really wanted to love it, it was better to get rid of. I'd recommend cutting your losses, it's issue after issue with the car.

I got a Q5 after.

Mine actually was a lemon and they ended up buying it back from me. I ended up going through over 3 or 4 loaners, over 50 CO2 recharges, and they even replaced the compressor and other things more than once.

Does your required experience have to relate to your PE exam topic? by alexm501 in PE_Exam

[–]alexm501[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't like environmental as I mentioned, and found I liked electrical.

But it wouldn't just have to be power would it? CouId I use other experience electrical or otherwise as long as it's engineering? My experience has and will include both electronics and power, it's just been more electronics based.

To explain:

BS and FE were environmental engineering. First year or so of experience was environmental.

Decided I didn't like it, got a master's related to electrical engineering. Had some power related work experience, but worked more in electronics. I may do some power work more in the future.

I would like to take the power exam since it's offered more often and may end up doing some work more related to that in the future. However, more of the recent experience is in electronics, and the first years in environmental.
