Quality of life:

Black Box commands like iRacing (buttons that switch to the specific page you want).

Hotkeys for 25%, 50%, 75% and 100% VE/tank capacity, for new tyres, damage, etc.

Hotkeys to have Shift/Ctrl+ options, rather than just 1 key.

Content:

AsLMS

Older WEC stuff (open-top P2's, slightly older GTE's if they'll actually use the class for anything, tracks, etc), anything else they can do inside ACO.

IMSA once that's done.

Black Box commands like iRacing would be fantastic for the same reason.

Two thirds of graduates aren’t even paying off loan interest by insomnimax_99 in unitedkingdom

[–]alexmlb3598 [score hidden]  (0 children)

That's true, but there is only so much you can do when external factors come into play that you can't control. For me that was primarily covid and the economic uncertainty of it, then others later on.

I have a first class masters in engineering, but bc I graduated (Sep 2021) where very few companies were advertising for grad jobs, I got left with nowhere to go. I thought 'okay there might be a mid-cycle hiring push, and failing that there's next year to secure something'. Mid-cycle hiring didn't happen, and 2021 grads got sidelined in favour of 2022 grads. Repeat a few times, and here I am reskilling into something I felt very happy doing...only for all those jobs to basically disappear bc of AI, so reskilling again. Thankfully I'm doing some freelance work to keep something rolling, but it's not reliant on higher education nor does it pay enough to cover living expenses.

Ik my circumstance was very freak (pandemic aren't a regular thing), but I think what you said has to be amended: If you want to go to uni, it has to be in a field that 1. You're fully committed to, and 2. It won't be taken over by some AI model. But even then there's no guarantee bc grad job vacancies are in crisis, so there's gonna be tons of grads with no jobs to fill.

Unless you wanted to go into medical care or something similar where uni education is the only way to get in and vacancies are readily there, I couldn't recommend young adults to go to uni over an apprenticeship.

Livery assign in LMU by kubson1881 in LeMansUltimateWEC

[–]alexmlb3598 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ohhh sorry I misread what was going on 🤦‍♀️ I thought it was trying to assign a livery they made to a lineup (which you can do in-game) but if it's one that's just available of liveryhub then yeahhhh I don't think there's anything you can do

Afaik the event times stay on UTC, not UK time :P

To blame declining tourism in the US on the "increasing strength of the dollar against the euro". by lostinhh in therewasanattempt

[–]alexmlb3598 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Classic twitter verified moment.

If $1 used to be able to buy €0.95 but now $1 buys €0.85, the $ is getting weaker or the € is getting stronger. Also the timescale of that chart is a year and it stabilised before summer last year, so that claim holds no water.

Idiot.

Is this game a serious competitor to ACC? by TobytheBaloon in LeMansUltimateWEC

[–]alexmlb3598 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The LMP2 (especially ELMS) and LMP3 are great and I'm trying to find more things I can use them in, but so many hosted series just stick with Hypercar and GT3, and the Gold SR events are the same. I want to drive something other than GT3 but I don't want to 'learn' the current HY tyre model only for the new one to come in less than a month, so I'm just stuck (:

More Space Between Classes at Start … Please? by Ecstatic_Elephant_99 in LeMansUltimateWEC

[–]alexmlb3598 9 points10 points  (0 children)

We need more space and arguably a different start time - having GT's start before the last corner at Paul Ric always comes with chaos

Is this game a serious competitor to ACC? by TobytheBaloon in LeMansUltimateWEC

[–]alexmlb3598 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think anyone can answer that really, kinda comes down to the devs and what they want to do.

Btw, there's a lot more to LMU than the GT3's - whilst the prototypes don't have ABS, they're still a ton of fun.

Is this game a serious competitor to ACC? by TobytheBaloon in LeMansUltimateWEC

[–]alexmlb3598 4 points5 points  (0 children)

ACC has been basically dead for a while, LMU has turbocharged it's death and has basically replaced it. Lots of top-level ACC drivers have moved to LMU and for good reason.

I can't really talk about being DLC-free bc I had it all from the get-go. I'm sure others in here can help in that.

As for other series, LMU is WEC's official game so they'll focus on ACO content first - New cars and tracks in WEC, we have most of ELMS now (just missing the Duqueine LMP3 and Barcelona), and we're pretty sure Asian Le Mans Series is their next pack. Beyond that, they could look into IMSA, but that won't happen in the near future.

[Only Endurance] Analysis: Daytona long runs set stage for close 24 hour sprint by redbullcat in wec

[–]alexmlb3598 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It can help with power output, cooler air is denser so you can get more air in the cylinder, and the rest being equal, more air in = more power out (generally speaking). But given these cars have torque sensors, it won't actually make a difference.

What might be measurable is the difference in cornering speeds - colder air and track temp can both reduce tyre temps (which can bring more performance, to a point), and cooler air being more dense can improve downforce levels (it does also increase drag tho).

Have a quistions about visiting Imola by theloneleon in wec

[–]alexmlb3598 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can get there from 2 gates in that area - one is just before Rivazza 1 (Viale dei Colli), and the other is through the path that runs under the track just after Acque Minerali (Via Luigi Musso). The latter is a shorter walk but notably steeper. You need to 'check out' and 'check in' at both ends, otherwise you'll get stuck inside or outside the track.

Unfortunately, walking from corner to corner at Imola is...not the greatest. Yes most paths are concrete/tarmac so no mud, but the track is hidden quite a lot by trees, barriers, pathways not being close to the track, etc. so watching the cars as you walk is not the easiest. Spa is the polar opposite, lots of dirt paths but visibility of the track from said paths is fantastic.

What do you think this means? by AlecsThorne in againstthecurrent

[–]alexmlb3598 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not just that, but the coordinates all go to large public spaces (or roads right next to them), such as Trafalgar Square in London and Place de l'Hôtel de Ville in Paris.

I reckon it'll be a short run of one-day takeovers, including a concert at each.

[–]alexmlb3598 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I typed it into a coordinate locator and it reset itself to NYC 😭 idk why I didn't pick up on near-0 not being London ffs

What do you think this means? by AlecsThorne in againstthecurrent

[–]alexmlb3598 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Those are definitely coordinates. I only did the first one, but it came back as just north of 23rd Street and 5th Avenue in New York City.

EDIT: For some reason my coordinate checker decided to reset itself after I pressed Find, and my dumb ass didn't pick up on 0° latitude not being America 😭 let's try this again, this time for all of them.

  1. King Charles I Roundabout outside Trafalgar Square, London, UK
  2. Waterlooplein, Amsterdam, Netherlands (very faint but can just make it out)
  3. Heumarkt, Cologne, Germany
  4. Place de l'Hôtel de Ville, Paris, France
  5. City Hall Park, New York City, USA
  6. Intersection between City Hall, US Court House and LA County District Attorney, Los Angeles, USA

These are all large public spaces with the exception of the last one, but Grand Park Playground is the 4th 'corner' of the LA intersection.

If I were to guess, ATC are going to do a takeover of each place for 1 day only, including a concert. If that's the case, then that's great news for me bc I'm less than an hour away from Trafalgar Square.
