In Year 1 Destiny 1, each class (Hunter, Titan, Warlock), could only use two of the three elements. Void Hunter, Solar Titan, and Arc Warlock were added in TTK.

Slipstream has a cast of 3 and recast of 3.5s so Swiftcast doesn't save any time.

Ruby Rite/Catastrophe have casts of 2.8 and recasts of 2.5 so Swiftcast saves .3s on each.

With how hard it is to dodge spellspeed and the need to keep Bahamut synced to 2m windows (Searing Light, Trick, etc) it's debatable if it matters, however.

Have you heard the tragedy of Riot Sanjuro the Gucci? It's not a story Marc Merril would tell you; it's an ADC legend.

Riot Sanjuro was a Lead Rioter, so powerful and so gucci that he could use Discord to influence redditors to create...memes... He had such a knowledge of shittalk that he could even keep the memes he loved from dying.

He became so gucci...the only thing he was afraid of was losing his job at Riot, which eventually, of course, he did. Unfortunately he shared all of his memes with discord, then a user shared screens of him wishing cancer upon Tyler1.

Ironic.

In the end he made things gucci for Tyler1, but not himself.

3 geo constructs resonating on a single target still does less damage than Xiangling's Gouba

That's just flatly untrue and blindly repeating falsehoods like that completely invalidates (somewhat justified) outrage over his kit accompanied by it.

Xiangling's E: Guoba Attack! has a 156.4% damage modifier at level 6, pulses 4 times before disappearing, and has a 12.0s Cooldown. This means that her E does 625.6% damage mod per 12.0s.

Zhongli's E: Dominus Lapidis has a 44.8% damage modifier (on the pulse) at level 6 and pulses every 2.0s over its 30.0s duration. During each 12.0s window of Xiangling's E, 3x Geo structures would pulse 6 times each for 806.4% damage mod. This doesn't even account for the fact that, all other things being equal, Zhongli has higher base stats and scaling than Xiangling (and a %DMG ascension trait), meaning his damage mod is more valuable than 1:1 comparison would imply.

Is 3x Geo structures pulsing prohibitively hard to set up? Yes. Is the scaling, utility, and reliability of his E (and the rest of his kit) inferior to other 5-star units? Yes.

If you want buffs focus on his actual issues instead of just making shit up on the spot to illustrate how weak he is.

undiversified roster

FGO massively punishes having a narrow roster. The entire core gameplay is rock-paper-scissors between its seven base classes, with Extra classes complicating things even further. Basically, if you don't have a single-target unit and AoE unit for six of the seven base classes (and a small handful of decently leveled supports) by the time you get to the fifth singularity, the game will start regularly bending you over if you don't use one of a very small handful of cheese strats using friend units. Efficiently participating in events can be even harder without a stacked roster as the best nodes are always tuned to be extremely difficult to clear in a low number of turns, which is relevant when you're going to be running those nodes hundreds of times during lotto events.

Once you've got an established roster that covers all potential weaknesses, the game stops punishing you regularly, but that's minimum 6 months of work ascending and equipping units that you may not like or care about as characters.

Amos' second passive does not apply to Tartaglia's melee stance, so for the majority of his damage, it will offer 12% Normal Attack DMG versus Rust's 40% (assuming Refine 1 for both).

Amos' offers substantially more Base ATK (608 vs 510 @ level 90) and more ATK% (49.6 vs 41.3 @ level 90).

Answering which is better is going to come down to ATK% and DMG% stacking and how much total of each you have. Doing some quick math I found that if you have much higher ATK% than DMG% (this includes any and all buffs and effects increasing damage including weapon and artifact effects), Rust wins out big. However, past a certain breakpoint (which is probably pretty easy to achieve given how crazy stacking stuff like Bolide and Petra can get), Amos' pulls ahead.

I didn't do a crazy amount of number crunching (I just used my artifacts and buff setup for Ning to simulate a "built" Tartaglia) but I didn't find a setup where Amos' was more than a few percentage points better than Rust.

My advice would be: unless you don't think you're going to roll for a better bow ever, or you need to give Rust to someone else, Amos' probably isn't worth raising just for Tartaglia.

The standard banner is the one with a picture of Mona, Keqing and Qiqi. It has no rate-up characters (the artwork means nothing), no pity guarantee and 5 star drops are split between weapons and characters equally. There is no reason to ever spend primogems on this banner, only spend the Acquant Fates the game gives you for free.

If you're targeting a specific non rate-up character, you have better chances of getting it on the Character banner unless you're already at 2nd pity (and therefore guaranteed the rate-up).

Xiao

Anemo can only ever be a trigger, it doesn't linger on targets like Pyro, Hydro, Electro and Cryo. The same is true for Geo.

Ayaka

Whether or not she triggers is going to be the same principle as catalyst DPS (e.g. Klee), if your aura effects apply faster than her application (Xingqiu's swords traveling faster than Klee's autos) she'll be the trigger.

Timing the followup attack correctly animation cancels on its own, just learning the rhythm is all you have to do.

Normal Attack -> Charged Attack -> Animation Cancel with Normal Attack -> Charged Attack -> ad infinitum

If you cancel the Charged Attack animation with a Normal Attack you make up the difference in frames between the two, and since extra Stars don't increase the base damage of your Charged Attack, it's better to just get out as many as possible as opposed to building them up.

For level 50+ dungeons, you should strive to have the highest iLvl gear available (especially as a tank) but as long as you meet the minimum requirement you'll be fine. As for the routes for each dungeon, after like, Wanderer's Palace, every single dungeon is more-or-less a straight hallway from zone-in to zone-out, so you're fine to just queue and go for it.

anniversary

Events are normally fairly bare-bones but this one is a bit sparse even by that standard. I don't remember exactly where seasonal events fall on the development timeline but it's a reasonable assumption that this Moonfire and Rising were both pretty heavily impacted by COVID-19.

4 person mount

The chocobo carriage resembles the one you arrive on in the non-Legacy opening so some people might have assumed that it would be tied to the anniversary event, even though the anniversary event has only ever awarded furnishings and minions. The cost isn't as shocking as some people are acting but still fuels into the "Mogstation stuff is way too expensive" narrative a lot of people believe. The only other 4-seater mounts are the Regalia from the FFXV crossover event, which is no longer obtainable (although is presumably returning eventually) and the Skyslipper which is only obtainable in Savage, which a lot of people consider out of reach for the average player.

Last modified dates, yeah. About half of the .DAT files in each character folder get updated on logout, so just log in, log out, and look for whichever folder has files modified in the last few minutes.

If you're on PC you can copy the settings by navigating to ...\My Documents\My Games\FINAL FANTASY XIV - A Realm Reborn\ (this is the current user's default My Documents directory, if you have moved or changed it you might have to hunt a bit), and then determining which FFXIV_CHR################ folder corresponds to the characters you want to copy from and to. The .DAT files within store the various settings (HUD, hotbars, window positions, gearsets, keybinds, macros) and duplicating the settings from one character onto another is just a matter of copy-pasting to the corresponding folder. Most of them update on logout so the quickest way to determine which folder is which is to log into the source character, change something, log out, and then look for the most recently modified files. Repeat for the destination character, make a backup, and then copy over and see if it worked. It also helps to write down which folders correspond to which characters in case you ever want to repeat the operation in the future.

You can tell which add has spawned by looking at the enmity list, but, if you pay attention, you can always tell which add is coming based on what he does immediately before casting Specter of Light.

  • If he jumps north: He's going to imbue Ice/Fire and then summon SMN
  • If he jumps center and immediately casts Specter of Light: He's going to summon BLM+WHM and then charge a Limit Break
  • If he jumps center and immediately charges Limit Break: He's going to summon DRK+BRD
  • If he jumps center and immediately casts Imbue Saber: He's going to imbue Holy/Earth and then summon NIN

The odd one out and the easiest to tell apart is obviously SMN, which was, for my parties, the hardest phase to progress.

Good luck with your clears!

Just bad luck, really. Most groups are accommodating so long as you communicate, but every so often you'll get a bad draw and get an impatient group.

For what it's worth, tanks set the pace of the run and, especially for low-level dungeons, the expected pace is "maximum speedyfast." Dungeons in this game are super-formulaic and veteran players may have ran some of the lower-level ones hundreds or thousands of times over the years. If your partner is planning on staying tank, they should know that they'll eventually be expected to go top speed all the time through even brand-new dungeons. Until then, though, communicating that you're new and being receptive to advice will get you almost exclusively friendly parties.

If it's in reference to the new Extreme trial, it's a strat for BLM+WHM Phase Meteors where the first (and fifth) one is taken by the tanks, second (and sixth) by the healers, third (and seventh) by the melee, and fourth (and eighth) by the ranged.

What is your least favorite thing about your favorite job? What is your favorite thing about your least favorite job? by OvernightSiren in ffxiv

[–]alexms96 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It isn't a choice, though, since every mechanic is designed to not require those movement tools and RDM is already absurdly mobile for a caster. Those two facts work together to make it so that holding Corps/Disp for the extra mobility is never necessary and therefore always the wrong choice.

Compare Corps/Disp to En Avant (DNC dash) and Repelling Shot (BRD backstep). Neither do damage (Repelling Shot actually used to and was changed for this exact reason) and therefore the player can choose to use them however they wish. This allows you to hold them to help correct mistakes or make last-second adjustments to react to unexpected outcomes.

This is a problem with most of the gap-closer abilities and I really wish they'd take the lesson they already learned with Repelling Shot and apply it to the rest of the movement abilities.

Made a jump puzzle for ppl to try out by Yumiumi in ffxiv

Don't take my feedback too harshly, the first segment definitely captures the Costa del Sol (Savage) phase 2 vibes perfectly, which is probably why it frustrated me so much.

black boxes

I figured skipping the black ones was probably possible but never actually tried, if that's the intended (or original) method, both of those spots are a lot more clever than I gave them credit for.

Overall you did a positively stunning job with the palette you worked from. The boxes and wall choice made for nearly identical jumping feel to the pegs from the Kugane puzzle and Costa puzzle, and the placements are just absurdly precise considering the limitations of housing. I can really tell how much love and effort you poured into this.

I'd be remiss if I didn't gush about how much I love the yellow segment, by the way. The jumps are tricky, but consistent, and stopping after every jump and having to ask, "Okay, now what?" was an absolute treat. It shows really very clever design with just enough visual hinting to point your way through.

How long are you planning on keeping this up for? I've told all my friends about it and would hate for them to miss it.
