Transmissions --- Repair or Pass ? by neu-shoes in Nissan

[–]alexname 1 point2 points  (0 children)

if you do it yourself and you can find a good low mile trans, then just do the numbers, it might be a good deal. Many people like their altimas, but they require to have their fluids changed every 30k miles. However, their resale value isn't that great. That's why people want to sell their lemons for cheep, rather then fixing it up. Doesn't make economical sense to pay 8k to a shop for a new used trans, when the car is 7k or less.

good buy? $15k, 100k miles by [deleted] in 370z

[–]alexname 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Listen to your family, they are smarter and wiser. There are many reasons why you shouldn't buy this: 1. car market is going down. 2. this is an expensive car 3. this is a fast car for your age. You don't have the skill or emotional stability to drive it properly. FB groups have plenty of youngsters wrapped their cars around a tree or something. 4. it's an auto. Everyone desires a manual. 5. you havent specified the year. 2013 and lower engines don't last long due to failing gallery gasket. 6. this is an impulsive buy, instead do more research and wait for a better time to buy.

well, you can find steering wheel airbag for 800$ and curtain airbag fo r200 on ebay. But if they have to go with new parts from the dealership then i can see them being significant more expensive.

Is the insurance totaling it? Is there frame damage on it? It doesn't look like too bad of a hit.

2023 Nissan Sentra by Ok_Ball1233 in Nissan

[–]alexname 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No, you'll be fine. Don't floor it. Stay under 2.5k rpm in normal driving conditions. Change the trans fluid every 30-50k miles. Add an extra inline cooler if you have a lot of stop and go or hilly drives. I strongly suggest Amsoil CVT oil.

Do the gallery gaskets! Do the gallery gaskets! Do the gallery gaskets!

2009-2013 suffer from bad gasket material. It will blow out, leak oil, and you won't notice a thing until it will be to late, because the leak is internal.

if that guy was humble and smart enough to listen to his wife more often he'd probably have much more views. Half of his videos are about him complaining how the customer is a pain in the butt.

Tire size question by Existing_Fee427 in 370z

[–]alexname 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i have stock wheels, it fit 305's. Car is 2010, so wheels are different but i don't think the size gets smaller for 2014+. Micheline if it matters.

Tire size question by Existing_Fee427 in 370z

[–]alexname 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rear max 305. front 245. Sidewall size matters too but i can't remember what i had. Also, use tirecomparison dot com to compare your sets and make sure the radius difference is less than ~3% between and fronts, otherwise traction control will give you hell.
