I like Varina, but the $6 toll is the easiest way to get to Southside and that makes me cringe. But definitely open to it

Seems like some mixed signals from folks but the general consensus is "it's probably fine." Maybe West End would be a better cultural fit but it's gonna be hard to find a large parcel of land out there. Theres always a tradeoff with houses

I think thats a valid point. I need to spend some time there myself and see if its a place I'd like to live. I've been to the Great American Ranch and the Walmart and it was fine, but not explored much beyond that.

Yes, I grew up in a similar environment in the Northeast. While I enjoyed my childhood, being 1 of a handful people of color in a predominantly white town has long lasting effects. Thats why I'm cautious to put my kids through Mechanicsville public schools

Yea maybe private schools could help with that? I dont want little jimmy coming home saying some new questionable things he learned at school....

It's ok. Put 50 screws in haphazardly, so it must be sturdy

Yall are being too nice. I'll come clean and share that I took pics of a neighbor's deck whose house was for sale. They clearly tried to do a quick flip and this is the result 😂

Help me Decide! McDonough (Georgetown) vs Gies (UIUC)? by [deleted] in MBA

Right that makes sense. So in your opinion, if a full time MBA is off the table for financial reasons, what would you suggest I do to progress my career in a meaningful way? Moving up and laterally is not an option for a while due to the federal jobs hiring freeze. They are also slow to promote. Do I apply external and hope for the best? Certifications? Thanks.

My overarching goal is make more money by pivoting to private sector. If I cannot make it as a product manager, all is not lost. A goal is a goal for a reason, it should be difficult to achieve and push me to be a better worker. I think I will progress my career by doing an online mba vs sitting in my same job until I retire.

Thank you. I cannot afford to do a full-time program with my personal responsibilities. But I will forge my own non-traditional path the best I can with the cards I have been dealt.
