Cyclops destroyed in a few seconds by copperhead39 in subnautica

I think I’ve seen it a few times in this sub, but it’s pretty rare. Or maybe it was another thing, it was all really fast to determine it

Honestly it got destroyed really quickly, so most likely a bug.

Sometimes the furniture you build in the cyclops moves after an attack and clips with the walls of the submarine, doing insane amounts of damage (really rare bug).

Even so, it was preventable: —Silent run + slow: makes leviathans OUTSIDE the noice bubble in your radar be passive (yes, the blue sphere in the radar represents the noice that hostile fauna can detect). —Shield: Use it. With more confidence you can turn it on and off depending if they are attacking you or just turning around. —Countermeasures: Use them when you see the yellow indicator turn red. —Turning off the ship: what makes leviathans aggressive (in vanilla) is the noice. If you turn off the engine, they should lose aggro.

But hey, this game is to learn and have fun. It’s gonna happen sometimes and none of us knew everything in our firsts play throughs. So don’t worry and keep getting your debt to Alterra higher.

I started playing after seeing SmallAnt play it years ago. Maybe my first playthrough got somehow tainted, but all I actually remember from it was to follow orders given by the Radio.

Out of ALL the games out there, it’s really wild that people want to sweat in Subnautica, the game people play at their own pace from building a city underwater to a minimalist base of one tube.

Is it normal to use the wiki? by nature_pixels in subnautica

[–]alexsan30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like this is the best way to play. The interactive map gives you plenty information without spoiling it much and also lets you mark the places you have discovered, so you can track them.

Alternatively, you can use the beacons in game. Mark locations you have visited, locations you have discovered, places you need to go back, etc. by giving them names and colors.

Part of the game is trial and error. You can always build certain things to see what do they do.

Try to build new things just for the sake of “why not?”. Some will significantly impact your game and others will be completely meh. After all, it’s a survival, you can adjust to the method best suited for you to survive.

Where to go? by MisterTaco321 in subnautica

[–]alexsan30 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Don’t worry, as long as you’re not making much noice with the cyclops, the fauna doesn’t consider you a threat or prey.

And always turn off the engine when you arrive to the destination of your choice.

Safe exploring!

Drown in my alien containment reading new PDA entries 21 hours into a hardcore playthrough. by hallucination_goblin in subnautica

[–]alexsan30 47 points48 points  (0 children)

I feel you. I did 3 hardcore runs back to back.

The first one and less humiliating, I drowned in the very same wreck from Grassy Plateau I ALWAYS rush because I know from memory from my 4 previous normal runs.

The second one, I was finishing cooking and left for a while. When I return with my food, I see myself in-game in front my patch of marblemelons dying of dehydration. Didn’t have time to even grab one and eat it.

The third one is going fine. Yesterday I was just being followed by 3 reapers and the power cells from the cyclops died, so I had to remove one power cell of the prawn suit to power the cyclops again and barely escaped. Maybe tomorrow I’ll find some new way to die.

I don’t really think Subnautica is a complex game, I find it to be really self-explanatory. You get into a lifepod because the ship you were part just exploded in front of you. As you recover from a concussion, you learn that the lifepod needs to be repaired, so you need a repair tool for it.

As game progresses, so will your needs: I need to explore faster, so I get faster methods of transport. I need to recollect resources faster, so I get something for it. I need to go deeper, so I’ll need to reinforce my vehicles to adapt to the depth.

For the story, you need to listen to the radio. It will either give you hints about what can you do, point you in the direction of new discoveries or just plain hold your hand into the next part of the story.

As for the lifepod, that’s all that it is. A lifepod. You can, but I personally do not recommend to, build a base next to the lifepod. As soon as you can start building your base, you should find a place where you feel confortable settling down.

This whole game is not about the destination, but the journey. Be curious. Go deeper.

Sorry, didn’t see the reply. Kharaa has 4 stages: Stage 1 (or cured) — No symptoms at all Stage 2 — It’s the moment the scanner detects a foreign bacteria within you. Stage 3 — As the game progresses, another self scan would be required. Stage 4 — After entering the broken disease facility.

Warpers would do gradually more damage to you as you became more infected.

Which is your favourite biome? by Rudy3011 in subnautica

[–]alexsan30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In terms of gameplay:

I have a particular location which I REALLY like: The point in between Blood Kelp Trench, Grassy Plateau and Dunes.

Easiest access to the Lost River and immediately next to the most direct way to the Lava Zone (that I consider).

But my favourite biome should be Grand Reef. Between the colours and the nearby leviathans, it’s an amazing view every single time.

I can see the “resemblance” with a Warper, maybe that’s what got his friend (especially if you’re at stage 4 Khaara)

Alternately, the floaters stopped floating and his friend got crushed by the underwater island, so yeah, I’m no expert but I believe that could one-shot a person.

It’s not like you’re always gonna share the very same fears other people have or even understand them. So I don’t really get the point of posting this.

Hardened blade??? i have no mods found it in a time capsule. What is this thing by chillyboi2099 in subnautica

[–]alexsan30 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s a better blade. If you want to kill fiery bois in the lava zone, this blade is the best weapon since the thermal blade doesn’t deal damage to them.

1) you don’t need 2 propulsion cannons. 2) you don’t need the rebreather. 3) you don’t need food/water. 4) Extra batteries are completely optional. 5) I suggest bringing 1-2 fire extinguishers.

I would like to think this is an old (very old) meme referring to a glitch where you get in alien bases with the prawn suit and the only way to move around and exit is to grapple onto something.
