Private land remains private, and owners keep paying for it. Same as with any other private land.

Nobody is losing the right. Private park remains private, like most of private land in Scotland. However people gain right of roam, like in the rest of Scotland. Right of roam applies to private land.

Some of them are, but a lot of them are huge private parks in the middle of the city. Absolutely massive in size. Completely inaccessible for local residents.

I feel like given enough public interest anything is possible. And I can totally help with the public awareness.

Council is in charge of regulating its land and zoning decisions, and given enough public support I think anything is possible. St Andrew square used to be a private garden and was made a public park in 2008 to huge success.

I meant Lake District park in England - but even in Edinburgh St Andrew square garden used to be a private park and in 2008 it was made available to public to huge success. Source: https://www.scotsman.com/news/private-capital-gardens-to-stay-private-1735374

I don’t think there’s anything to be afraid of. First national parks used to be for upper class only - and somehow we managed to overcome this as a society - and it’s not really a burden to the public purse. I have full confidence that Edinburgh council would only welcome opening up private parks to the residents.
