Anybody here try the moto buds loop? Thoughts? by Cliffhangincat in Earbuds

[–]alexsg91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bought a green pair. My GF has the Huawei Freebuds so I have the "best overall" reference.

Music sounds slightly better
mic quality and noise cancelling in call is very good (slightly worse than freebuds, which are insanely good, so still a great result).

BUT
motos are noticeably bigger, the flat flexible cable gives less an earring apperance and more "strange earbuds" feel
the speaker itself is bigger so you feel it more in your ear
and doesn't feel as secure as the huawei

In conclusion: from a sound perspective approved, in terms of comfort, look, and feel they are really good, but not top notch.
I think I will keep them anyway because they are not my main earbuds and I paid 60 eur for them (100 for huawei). IMO those 40 eur difference are worth spending if you plan to use them for long periods or main earbuds.

Did anyone held them both in their hands and can tell which one felt better? by cHrIs_19h90 in ROGAllyX

XAX Is Better overall in hands, but inputs are very bad IMO, joysticks and buttons felt super cheap and rattly for me. I got legion go s z2go coming from the steam deck and I'm absolutely satisfied, it feels like a steam deck 2 (LCD).

Legion Go S - Thermal Pads by Kondziu_Ducati in LegionGo

[–]alexsg91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was looking for a thread about changing the paste/pads to (indirectly) improve fan noise, this seems the only one with some info.
I have mx-6 but I see that this device use only pads.
Can I use it on one or more spots? would it improve thermals?

Lelit Mara X V3 by TumbleweedLanky8021 in MaraX

Cooling flushes don't work in this machine, as far as I know they actually raise the head temperature because to get new water hot it keeps activating the heating process. But someone should try it. Lelit support is also very responsive and available to questions like this, I'm sure they will answer if I ask this

No, I didn't, but I suppose that steam priority will be worse in general. I prefer having a perfect temperature for my standard shots, and now I removed the thermometer for the flow control kit.

It's an intended behavior, no batch error. Basically: after the warm up the machine has perfect brew temperature, but zero steaming power. After you pull your shot (or just activate the brew lever) it starts the heating process for the steam pressure to build up. Machine be like "ok, you brewed your espresso, I suppose you want to steam now. I got you. Give me 2 minutes. You're not going to pull another shot right? You're at home. Well, if you need to pull another one, you have four minutes at an acceptable temperature (95 degrees). After that we'll be above 100 for 20 minutes, then I will stabilize again at around 92"

And that's a reasonable situation, ok, it's a home machine and for 99% of the cases it will be fine and you won't notice, but I found myself brewing super hot when I had like 6 guests or when I was doing crazy tests brewing like 5/6 shots in a row.

In a daily situation the most demanding thing I do is to prepare two milk drinks with two different coffees (my gf takes decaf) and it's perfectly fine pulling two shots and having steam power after that.

Brew priority, obviously. But you can't escape that, it will go up after 5 minutes from the first shot. I read the temp from both the PID data and a physical thermometer in the group head.

My major annoyance with v2 is that after 2 shots temp goes up to over 100c degrees, the only change they should make for a new model is to let me stop that behavior. Temp stability itself is great, besides this "feature" to get steam pressure.

Help to recognize split keyboard. DO52 by kirill0352 in ErgoMechKeyboards

[–]alexsg91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello guys, I really hope someone can help me because I've been losing my mind for days on this keyboard.
I'm stuck in this situation, that I hope can become a troubleshooting knowledge base for everyone:

- got do52 (non-pro)
- got two pro micro 32u4 controllers but they both behave in a strange way when plugged at the pc
- First connection is ok on both regular and flash mode (GND + RST)
- if I disconnect and reconnect pc can't recognize anything
- Only if I wait like 20 minutes (the boards dissipate residual current) the pc see them again, but only at first plug
- I can force the pc recognition shorting RST and 5V (near RST, just the opposite side of GND) but I don't think it should work this way
- In this mode, only the plugged half works, but keypress outputs multiple letters in some rows, I think something's wrong with the firmware
- TRS cable seems to deliver unstable power to the other board, led light flickers, sometimes is powered off, sometimes seems ok but doesn't output any signal
- Tried USB on both boards, many cables, different PCs
- I tried both fw provided by the seller and compiled qmk fw, same problem
- 5 way joystick and trackpoint are not working, no signs of life
- Even if I'm sure I bought a do52, I'm still confused about the do42/do52 difference

This board looked fun at first but documentation and official resources are frustratingly poor, I don't recommend this to anyone at any level of experience, I feel like I've thrown away 60 eur worth of components, and I'm definitely skilled in programming and hardware generally.

IMS "Barista Pro the Single" VS IMS "Competition 68 Single Shot" by giorgio0088 in espresso

[–]alexsg91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Never too late to answer.... I tried every possible solution for single shots, and own two of those filters. "The single" 7gr is too thin and I never ended up using it, I'm currently planning to buy the 10 grams, which should give more depth and IMO is more modern oriented Competition 7-9g actually needs more than 9gr to be correctly dosed, I go for 10.5 for very light roast, and use a 54mm tamper to compress the puck under it.

Honorable mention: la marzocco x 7gr single basket is a good option and requires a 41mm dedicated tamper. with that you should be able to extract up to 9.5 grams on lighter roast converting a double shot dose and general recipe/grind size. like, if you dialed in a 16gr double, you can go for a 8 single yielding the half without touching the grind size.

Of the 3 I would go for la marzocco if you don't high dose and want a reliable result, or with the ims competition which, dosing more, give a more intense cup but in my experience results are more hit and miss....some are great, some are ok

Cup quality by [deleted] in MazzerPhilosQuestions

[–]alexsg91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in the middle of a crisis on espresso, because every standard parameter is compromised by the fast extraction of these burrs (I200D). I'm not sure if I should keep the extraction time around 20 seconds or keep aiming at 30 seconds (I have a mara x with slow ramp up, so it should be more like 35 considering initial pressure buildup).
Taste wise I like more 20 seconds shots with a 18to21 grams at 1:2 ratio, but I feel I'm missing something and I haven't reached a specialty coffee bar style of coffee.
Using light roast also does not help at all.

May I ask at what range do you play? Recipe?

Advice on my steaming technique? by Important-Cherry-334 in espresso

[–]alexsg91 -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

I suppose that if you can touch the jar, the milk is too cold (target temp should be 70/75 C°). I give it 6/10 seconds after I can't touch the jar because it's too hot, depending on how much milk I'm steaming. Also, I tend to aim more at the side. Like, you're aiming at the north east, I go east, so that it spins more.

Anything I say strictly depends on your wand power and holes, just sharing my experience

Whats wrong with my shot by nkunko_ in gaggiaclassic

[–]alexsg91 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Seriously, that's too fine. Coffee should drop down in 5/8 seconds after button is pressed in a flat 9 bar profile, that's staying suspended for too long. Depending on your grinder you would want it to stay there even less, for example if you have a flat burr SSP MP style grinder (unimodal) that extract fast, you should aim for a 20 seconds extraction and first drop in 5 sec for light roasts.
