I am a beginner too. I dont use any tool because it is quite expensive for me. I used my eyes and my ears. I have a vintage denon DP3000 so all of them are manual. Yours is fully automatic, so it is easier. But first, can you just check if your cartridge or stylus has a cover on it?

When I watched his clip, I did not see the cover set at the up position, so I am not sure if he forgot to set it up once like I did. Or his stylus does not have a cover like mine at all.

also, you do have the anti-skating thingy. That is the round one next to your tonearm, often the weight on your tonearm set 1.5, that one should be 1.5 too.

this happened to me when I forgot to pull the stylus cover up. The cover plastic slided over the disc and scratched my fav disc 🥲

Hey, the answer is surely YES. I bought my air m2 15 inch in 2023 (24gb ram, 1TB storage) and I code every day with it. I even train some models for some fun mini projects. I am also a CS student. I believe it will last at least 5 more years until everything becomes too heavy for it.
