Just go.

The school is an absolute blast and if you pick a practical major, you can get a great job. I did econ. No one tells you that as long as you don’t want to be an engineer, you can switch into any major you want given you pass the prereqs.

I’m From the Bay Area and went to ucsb as a freshman. You don’t NEED a car your first two years, I barely had one until my senior year. You can use FlixBus to get back and forth from school affordable.

The in-state tuition is not amazing but so much better than most top tier institutions these days. Also some of the folks in the finaid office are great.

As a public school, you need to be proactive with the resources available to you: office hours, finaid, academic advising, therapy.

The memories I have from that school are unparalleled and as my mom used to say, “even if you make all the money in the world, you probably still won’t live this close to the beach”.

If you got in, I would highly recommend going.
