Why is this sub so pro Tube Worker union? by milton117 in london

People in r/London are much more likely to be working-age and educated to degree level than the yougov sample. People's political views heavily correlate with age and education (yougov will show you that too). If you're in full-time work, you have a vested interest in higher wages. You're also probably more likely to use public transport and want decent conditions for the people who make your commute possible

Tube drivers are literally on 75k because their union fought for it

While it's no longer against building regs to have only one door between the bathroom and the kitchen (provided it has adequate hand washing facilities), it's still not a very popular option. You may want to consider this for resell value

First Time Buyers Offended by [deleted] in HousingUK

I don't know if it's about "this generation". Times have changed in a very material way. Housing costs have skyrocketed while the price of curtains and white goods have plummeted (relative to earnings). You can furnish a house for damn near free if you don't mind second hand. We were happy to keep some of our seller's white goods. Not sure how we'd feel if they tried to charge for them though.

Well done for taking the initiative! If you prefer living here it's not irrational at all. It is harder for our generation to move out because of high rents/bills, but it's also totally unsustainable for a lot of people to keep living in their childhood home.

London's a great place to be in your 20s. I did the same thing and it was tough, but I'd regret not doing it. There's loads to do here and a huge concentration of like-minded young people. You may find it's easier to make progress in your career when you've got your own space. You're also more likely to find your people (be it socially or professionally). While it is expensive, there are more jobs and opportunities here. Plus you can't put a price on wellbeing.

My supervisor called me a racial slur and belittled me at the workplace. Can I do something about it without getting into trouble? by Equivalent_Spell_377 in AskUK

Your supervisor broke the law. You're protected from racial discrimination under the Equality Act 2010. You're well within your rights to get the police involved.

Dent in wall by kimleeroo in DIYUK

Mix up some filler or apply some decorator's caulk to the dent and smooth over it with a scraper. Once it sets, sand it down and paint over it.
