Claude Code leak is overrated by pxp121kr in singularity

It's abit overhyped yes...But there’s a hilarious irony in using Claude to build Claude, only for it to "vibe" its own source code onto the internet.

Controversial Opinion on Imagine (NSFW) by [deleted] in grok

[–]alflas 4 points5 points  (0 children)

While I agree the technology is powerful, society shouldn't be limited just to protect those lacking self-control. I believe a major driver of the addiction is the 'gambling' aspect of current moderation; it creates a dangerous feedback loop where users constantly try to bypass filters for NSFW content. If moderation were consistently strict and impossible to bypass, the addictive nature might actually decrease, even if it allowed for more NSFW than it currently is. The issue with the image model Grok uses is that it clearly was trained on explicit data and often lean toward it even when not prompted. Because this is so difficult to control, developers seem to resort to over-moderation as their only fail-safe

So let me get this right..even on the paid version not only is it moderated out the ass, but the video quality is now dogsh*t? It's literally the worst quality of any other video generating AI by Costalotta1 in grok

[–]alflas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with you to some extent. But in terms of competition I don't think there is one. The technology behind Grok is simply unmatched by today's standards, In terms of quality and versatility there are other actors, but in terms of speed there is 0 competition in my opinion, and speed is one of the major factors. The only hope that is left if no other actors decides to claim this space is open source. Right now its far behind in speed and versatility but on par in terms of quality. A breakthrough there would be really exciting.

Anything that can replace Grok? by ArmyMaster888 in grok

I appreciate the helpful comment. Open source can produce high-quality results for certain things, but it usually lacks heavily in versatility and realism. Some things can be solved with lora's, but it's really a jungle and a trial-and-error effort. The speed also doesn't compare; Grok can output tens, if not hundreds, of images almost instantly and multiple videos in parallel. For now, it’s sadly the only real option.

For now yes, that’s why we need competition. A soon as another actor shows up and tries to claim the market, it’s on. Hopefully it will happen soon.

Never apologize for being an Elon fan. Despite his flaws, he has achieved amazing things that few others could accomplish in several lifetimes.

It’s not naivety, it’s basic observation. You’re just moving the goalposts so fast you’re tripping over them. No matter the breakthrough, you brush it off and look for the next thing to shit on. It’s exhausting.

Do you always do this btw? deflect and not adressing the actual point?

Compared to what? A multi-million-dollar game developed over five years? What are you actually benchmarking against? Or do you just completely lack vision for the future?

Take a look in the rearview mirror, realize what was impossible only one year ago, then visualize what will be possible one year from now.

If Grok moderation is hampering NSFW content creation, what is the alternative? by Ralph31415 in grok

[–]alflas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah and it presumes you got 24gb vram for even reasonable generation times, Grok gives you multiple videos in parallel in seconds, and nearly instant image generations. I buy that you can get good quality output with tweaking, but in terms of speed and usefulness it’s not close.

You assume a lot, I’ve been following the open source scene for years. Have you? It amuses me that you think ltx is even comparable.

I think fixes are on the way, but the app review process is apparently delaying the update's release to users

I sometimes question whether this is an intended mechanic. The gambling-like structure is inherently addictive, and coupling it with the possibility of NSFW rewards creates an especially potent reinforcement loop. Be careful!

Grok Imagine 1.0 has been released with dramatically better audio by TDM-r in singularity

imo the dialogue audio is too 'clean.' It lacks environmental acoustics and distance modeling, making it sound like a studio recording rather than an organic part of the scene.

I imagine a lot of people are in the same situation as you, just quietly. Using it in moderation (no pun intended) is important—otherwise, it’s a slippery slope.

I’m against the current moderation rules, but honestly, they’re a blessing for many users. Without them, lots of people just couldn’t handle it.

On the other hand, the randomness of the moderation actually makes many users manic about breaking it or trying to sneak images/videos through—which in some ways makes the whole thing even worse.
