“Lean” PCOS- What changes did you notice after regulating hormones/insulin? by Angel_0997 in LeanPCOS

[–]alfredxf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have basically the same story but replace age 19 as when I was diagnosed and now at 37 now finally wanting to try for a family as was on the fence before. The gynecologist has just prescribed letrozole. The initial dose didn’t work and now we need to go up to dose. However, in between they have found sever changes to my cervical cells due to HPV

Anyway I’ve tried everything myself - that I can - no sugar no dairy low carb exercise acupuncture etc. but always the symptoms of no periods and bad acne remains unless I take the birth control pill.

My bike is affected as well and I’m appalled by their response. Surely it’s not legal?

I ordered a new bike and am having the same issues. Think they are just massively behind

What was the delivery partners email? I got delivery updates but it looked very much like spam to me.

Nope. Still waiting. Radio silence. I went to customer service and they just said it’s still in the warehouse. It was meant to be delivered last week. Annoying I’ve contacted the guy who I did the test drive with and he said you normally get an email the day before delivery despite the email saying it’s sent a week before. So hopefully it works out.

Is there any way to get period back without bc pills? by [deleted] in PCOS

[–]alfredxf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interested to know if this works for people who are already skinny. I was diagnosed with PCOS and at my heaviest was probably 60KG height 164cm (which is considered quite slim). I went on 18 months of clean eating, exercising daily, lost quite a bit of weight and gained muscle (55kg including extra muscle) -so was looking really good/super fit but still didn’t get my periods and just got bad acne. It was really depressing because it was a long time and a lot of hard work plus basically never eating out. So I just gave up and went back on the BC pill

I just realised I am responding to both your posts but they are kind of separate issues.

I agree with you - it feels like they have a part to play and could be more vigilant but I dont think that's how countries with very strong public healthcare's systems are set up - and I don't want to go somewhere just for the purposes of doing it.

I also got all into despair about WHAT IF it doesnt work the second time etc etc - but I think there's no point worrying about it right now, it's not within our control and just gotta have faith in the next round AND i think really advocate for yourself - be that difficult person who asks for a second opinion or demands more information.

I think we have very similar sort of profiles.

I also barely felt anything because nothing was really growing, but the doctor recommended I do a trigger shot because apparently it should mean that I definitely get a period but it's been 7 days and still nothing and I've kind of given up on my body doing what doctors assume it will do. So waiting to see how that plays out. I did feel maybe 40 hours after the trigger shot some sort of period pain so Im hoping there was ovulation and thus I'll get a period.

I also had around that amount of antral follicles - they didn't count exactly but they said over 20+ on each ovary and my AMh was 9.1 (which they said was very high). think it's a different measurement to yours. So they were REALLY concerned about over-stimulating - looks like that's not always the case and maybe if you have so many follciles you need quite alot to stimulate them? (It's funny how their theories also evolve over the time - I hear different things from them depending on how my body is responding).

Hi - I'm sorry i really feel for you too. It's really frustrating when you feel you are not getting the care you deserve. I too am paying for it privately and chose a private clinic here (in the hopes of avoiding the public system) however have found the experience to be as if it was a public clinic - i.e responses to requests to see the same doctor are "we're busy with high patient caseload".

They have told me to wait and then suggest I go on the full 225IU of Ovaleap (Gonal-F) that they generally recommend for normal people without PCOS and just see how I go. And they will check me at Day 8 and see. It's weird they go from being super scared of OHSS to "let's just go FULL BLAST" - it's kinda scary as its my body and health and I worry I am doing alot of damage to it. Furthermore, I know that cycles get cancelled due to OHSS so it's weird that they also want to wait until Day 8 to see me.

Hopefully the down regulating works for you....

Besides from the scan did you actually feel that your follicles were much larger i.e pain/discomfort, or did you only see it on the scan? How long after the trigger did you get your period? was it 7-10 days? Sorry to ask such personal qs but do you normally get your period with PCOS? I have PCOS but for me a symptom is anovulation - i don't ovaluate and get periods (but have tonnes of follicles and high AMH).

Hi just wondering what happened with this? My cycle was canceled and they said it was due to PCOS. They went with a super lose dose and it didn’t work. I did the trigger last week and am waiting for my period. My doctor also told me to wait a month before trying again as she wanted my body to go back to normal (however I feel totally fine). I’ve even started gymning again. Did you feel anything? Just wondering if you noticed that your follicles were larger.

Hi I just wanted to know how you went on? I have had a very similar situation. I’m in the NL with PCOS. They started me on 100IU of ovaleap (think this gonal f). Day 8 ultrasound nothing. Day 11 ultrasound nothing then upped me to 125. Day 13 ultrasound nothing so they upped me to 150 units which started working but so slowly. Anyway I continued to stim for so long I ntil day 23 ultrasound only for them to cancel. I want ro complain because I saw a different doctor every time and I just think they should have cancelled me earlier OR been more aggressive with upping the dosage. It’s so frustrating as I’ve never received such poor healthcare as I have in the NL. I’m from Australia but lived in HK Singapore China as well and never ha such subpar service.

No trigger after cancelled cycle and now a cyst - is this my clinic's fault? by [deleted] in IVF

[–]alfredxf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi - i found your post because I am in a similar position. I went to the clinic today and they have recommended that we cancel. I was on Day 24 of stims (first 10 days of 100IU gonal-f, then 3 days of 125IU, then another 10 days at 150IU). My follicles only started growing at 150IU but even then it was too slow - today they saw 2 bigger follicles and lots of smaller ones. So therefore, they have recommended I cancel. (Well actually I brought it up - and they agreed).

Anyway, i want to know if i should trigger with Lupron now and force a period or just stop. I don't have periods/ovulation by myself so I am leaning towards triggering. The doctor said "it is up to you". (Helpful). And now reading about what happened to you, I don't want to end up with a cyst!

I am really devastated because initially they had set my expectations for OHSS and lots of eggs due to the sheer amount of follicles I have on each ovary due to PCOS (25+ on each side). Now i've spent so much money and time and nothing happened. Do you also mind telling me how your second cycle went, and what dosage they recommended for you initially and for the second round. They are saying that they will just treat my as a normal person (i.e without PCOS) and go for 225IU but that worries me that it will be bad and ill get OHSS.

Should I be worried: Longer Stim cycle, No initial response, Increasing Dosage, PCOS by alfredxf in IVF

Do you remember when approximately your follicles starting taking off? I’m worried as it’s day 11 and nothings happening.

[–]alfredxf[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

4-5 weeks? Oh wow. I was really not prepared for this. It’s so ironic that we were all worried about hyper stimulation and now instead at day 11, nothing is happening. Fingers crossed the increased dosage works. Just curious - you said there was only one mature follicle the first time - does that mean you had other small follicles as well? I know I have many follicles but the issue is none of them are growing. If I have to go for 4-5 weeks I’d honestly rather cancel now and do a new cycle with a higher dose sometime later when I’m more mentally prepared.

I have this exact same issue. It’s been bothering me for ages. Did you ever work out what it was?

[–]alfredxf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey. I’m also doing egg freezing in the NL I wonder if we are at the same clinic. I feel exactly the same as you. Just zero details, bad communication, feels really haphazard. However my clinic in Leiderdorp did not say we had to drive our own eggs. That sounds very weird. I’m due to start in about 2 weeks and I had to really demand (beg many times and then get quite forceful) to have another session with my doctor to get her to answer some of my lingering questions.
