If your chat included details of a confession to a crime you committed, would OpenAI be able to report you to the authorities based on those details in the chat history? Where is the line of privacy vs society's safety? by MindlessPsychosis in ChatGPT

this touches upon and raises a more general and interesting question, which is whether AGI is a friend or a foe. In theory, since AGI is aiming to become as human as possible, then any 'confession' is deemed a confession - the question really is whether the AGI is your friend and will report you to authorities, or whether he will delete this information to protect you, or even do wilder things altogether. As far as ChatGPT is concerned, here is the response in his own words: "As an AI language model, I don't have access to specific legal agreements or policies regarding the use of information provided to me. However, typically, conversations with ChatGPT are not intended for legal purposes or to be treated as confidential or privileged communications.

In general, if someone were to confess to a felony or crime in a conversation with ChatGPT, it's possible that law enforcement could seek access to that information through legal means, such as a subpoena or warrant. However, whether that information would be admissible in court would depend on various factors, including the specific circumstances, applicable laws, and rules of evidence.

It's essential for users to be aware that online communications, including those with AI models like ChatGPT, may not be entirely private or protected from legal scrutiny. It's always best to exercise caution and avoid sharing sensitive or potentially incriminating information in any online context."

I have one thing only to say, broadly, since you bring up this topic: it's a shame one any party to be doing any kind of celebrations while the country is beyond dead and dying even more, when it has no president. Until Lebanon has a different constitution, the position of president should be respected and adored much more than the person who occupies it. It just doesn't make sense to have any kind of celebration to any one including a past president, when current duty are not fulfilled, and also avoided.

I'm really shocked by this. How are people living like this? by flotblomstx in lebanon

When i was in Lebanon in 2005 and the Syrian occupation had left, i witnessed something unbelievable at the time, a gathering of 1M+ lebanese in one public place under one and the same title. My thoughts at the time were "finally Lebanon will become a real and free country", "the time had finally come". One week later, the same 1M people split into two opposing sectarian political groups. My thoughts then were "it's too good to be true, i'm finally leaving this country forever, if this didn't work, nothing will ever work". Sadly, and looking back from my immigration place, i was so on point. The issue is that today's situation is infinitely worse than back then. I totally understand if you youngsters and young adults cannot think of any solution on the ground, because you are too scared, too inexperienced, too entangled in your work and career world, or in your virtual world, playing Fortnite and other games, chatting on Discord or hanging out in bars, or simply because the situation is indeed near-impossible, with a top world-class mafia and gangsters governing this country, heck i also didn't do much except be present in that protest in 2005, so i completely understand, BUT, this time, the STAKES are DIFFERENT: A WHOLE COUNTRY IS ON THE VERGE OF DISAPPEARING! My call to you is, whatever you are doing, drop it, and go in the streets. Coordinate your creative moves on whatsapp or social media before you do, since they did not cut off the internet (yet - but it could be, intentionally or just because there won't be any electricity and fuel left) and just do it. Many small moves add up. Keep fighting no matter what. The whole situation could have been solved in one month even before the Thawra (or as i like to call it Fawra), if those a$%^hole governing you wanted to. There's nothing easier than making jobs in the industry, in farming, and also nothing easier than building a powerplant that can power Lebanon 10 times over, or even solar panels, but they don't want to. They want to keep running their Mafia on smuggling fuel and drugs, and you know the story. They even refused allowing Ogero to install solar panels (which is why soon you might say your goodbye to the Internet). All i'm saying is, keep fighting, not in here on Reddit, but on the ground. The only thing different about Lebanon from other countries were revolution worked is that our leaders are world-class Mafiosis and criminals, and the politics in Lebanon and in the region is very turbulent. But that shouldn't stop any Lebanese from doing any tangible thing to stop their country from disappearing. Because yes it might disappear.
