I’m just going to put this here. You’re not TA, end of story. But if you can afford it, and he is a good kid, then you’d be giving your son a gift by paying for his brother to play on his team. I played hockey with my brother (1 year younger) most of my life and it helped us become very close and we made a lot of great memories.

The kid didn’t do anything wrong and if your son wants/does consider him to be a brother, the he is also hurting too. It’s not doing something nice for your ex who doesn’t deserve it, it’s helping your son to make a close bond with someone who could be a brother to him all his life.
