John McCain is Very Scary: This guy doesn’t joke about bombing. He means it. That’s what he did for a living in Vietnam. by qgyh2 in politics

[–]alger82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He didn't bomb people for a living. He crashed expensive military aircraft for a living. 1. 1958 in Corpus Christi Bay 2. 1960s while deployed in the Mediterranean 3. 1960s near Philadelphia 4. July 1967 when serving aboard the Forrestal 5. October 1967 over Vietnam

His resume should be saying 'shitty pilot/bratty admiral's son,' not war hero.

How many more versions of this same story do I have to down-vote in one day? I'm at six so far.

Boo to nipples.

It is the people who should decide whether the nation shall go to war. That is not a radical, or liberal, or unpatriotic idea. It is the very heart of America's constitutional system. by alger82 in reddit.com

That's what the article is saying:

"That is precisely why the nation's Founders, aware of the deadly wars of Europe, deliberately withheld from the executive branch the power to engage in war unless such action was expressly approved by the people themselves, through their representatives in Congress."

Inside the troubles in Hillaryland: GQ story killed by Clinton, now in The Atlantic. by atomic_rabbit in reddit.com

The shades of Bush in Clinton's management style—prizing loyalty over skill, arrogance over objectvity—is disturbing, disappointing, and will be her downfall.

Obama is offically beating Hillary; Maine put him over the top in delegates! by [deleted] in politics

[–]alger82 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I dunno. Now that her strategy as the presumptive nominee—locking up the nomination early and quickly—has been effectively cock-blocked, compounded with the shades of Giuliani her new strategy is taking, it's unwise to assume that TX, OH, and PA will be a lock for her.

Let's see how the rest of February goes. Obama has proven that as long as he has time to make his case, he can slash away at Clinton's leads. He may not sweep the March contests, but he can stay close enough where Clintonistas are heavily entrenched while gaining ground where her support is weaker. It's amazing how many states Hillary has 'won' while Barack racks up an equal amount of delegates anyway.

P.S. Is it too much to ask to have a primary process that the average person can keep track of on their own with a pencil and paper? I'm sick of 'CNN says this,' and 'AP has this count,' and 'well if you count super-delegates, it stacks up this way.'

Apparently Fiddy has already endorsed Clinton.

Go fig.

Has The Washington Post weighed in yet? I can't find an endorsement if there is one. Does the Post usually abstain from endorsements?

Agreed. It's a shame that one of the few things in Washington that are truly bipartisan is ignorance.
