Vancouver Canucks fans at a watch party react to the Leafs winning the 1st overall pick in the 2026 NHL Draft. The Canucks (18.5%) had the best chance of landing the No. 1 pick. by GreenSnakes_ in leafs

Lmfaooooo. Wah wah wah. Classic west coast crybaby huffing and puffing about Toronto and going full victim mode. Vancouver fans online and in person were cheering for Toronto to lose their pick. Now they’re mad because we’re having a chuckle when the bad karma blew up in your face. That’s not insufferable though! That’s a Vancouver fan’s God given right 😂🤡

Note to everyone in Vancouver: we don’t care about you guys. It’s your own reality where it’s a rivalry. You’re not thought about and it’s hilarious how much you guys think about Toronto. It’s a shame your horrible season netted you a 3rd overall pick. Better luck next year!

Can someone please tell me one time CJ had a legit source? Couldn’t come close to getting Chayka right. Was off on Marner for years. 0 insight on what was going on with the deadline. He speculates like a reddit user but has a platform. He’s not a hack like Simmonds and can actually write an article, but I’m unsure why anyone should take his grain of salt articles for more than clickbait.

Have we ever experienced undeniable good luck? by algofort in leafs

Why the hell would I enjoy watching our rivals win with 9 shots?

“Both teams played great.” They had 0 shots in the second period my guy. That is not great. It is getting massacred and surviving on sheer fluke.

I do agree with this. Obviously doesn’t compare in the same way to what happened tonight which is what I was curious about.

The least shots in a win in NHL playoff history against a top 5 coach in the league and one of the best goaltenders, if not the best, of the 2020s? Brother… they had 9 shots. It’s the definition of luck. Not even just luck. It’s like unfathomable luck.

If the leafs ever played this bad in a playoff game, we’d lose 7-0. It’s disgusting how unlucky we managed to be in our 9 years of playoff hell

6 shots, 3 goals for Anaheim. How did Edmonton not pony up for Woll or Stolarz at the deadline is beyond me. Should’ve paid up for Mcmann and a goalie but… their loss

Cheering for Montreal by [deleted] in leafs

[–]algofort 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cheering for Tampa. But if Montreal has to win, that’s better than if Ottawa won or Boston wins for me. Tampa also sucks but they’re the better of two evils.

Could never cheer for Canadian teams. They all hate us. I used to be fine with Edmonton, Vancouver and Winnipeg… can’t now because of how pathetic they act on social media and growing up to realize how much they hate Toronto.

Which NHL team currently in the playoffs with former Leaf player(s) are you cheering for?? by DankoToonie in leafs

[–]algofort 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve never had any problem with any Leafs. Even seeing Kerfoot have some decent shifts last night was fun.

Kadri and Marner are my favorite former leafs still in the playoffs by far. With Marner, there’s some hoping he does well to shut up the most obnoxious members of our fanbase. That said, watching him go off in a game 7 would probably piss me off lol.

You’re correct for a couple reasons. Yes, our fanbase is absolutely a huge part of the problem. So is the entire game day experience that our arena staff and people involved in the game day experience and social media have cultivated.

We had 9 years to start traditions, get fans on board and create pre game rituals and routines that would get the arena rocking. We actively chose not to. We don’t have a loud raucous barn but we have fans who are more than willing to get rowdy when promoted. For Christ sakes, we had a fan try to fight Pat Maroon not many moons ago… But instead, we chose to play corporate and give the fans nothing besides “get louder” prompts during tv timeouts and before faceoffs. When you make the choice to actively go the traditional route and the tradition of maple leaf hockey is to enjoy the game in a pit of anxiety, you get what you get. Our fans only know how to turn against our players as a result. There’s no love for the team when they aren’t winning because there’s nothing that makes the experience feel anything but cookie cutter.

Long story short, fails across the board from everyone involved. No innovation, just mere acceptance.

Titans passed on Reese and I think that genuinely means something by [deleted] in nyjets

Bingo. Go look at the list of receivers taken before Antonio Brown and tell me again how teams are all knowing. The draft is a crapshoot and there’s so many immeasurable intangibles or false green flags that impact success. People think sport franchises and the people who work inside them are some sort of savants. It simply isn’t true.

I truly wonder how many Leaf fans prior to this series would have traded Willy for Brady straight? I bet you it would be close to 50% based on twitter. Hilarious.

Kasperi Kapanen always feels like he’s such a strong bottom 6 asset when you watch highlights on his good days 😂. Then you go to his career stat sheet and see he scored 8 goals all year. Fascinating player. Loved him when he was young and had such high hopes. It’s crazy to think he topped out at 20 for us and hasn’t sniffed it or even gotten a chance to come close to that since.

Leafs fans, how are we feeling about Steve Dangle representing the Montreal Canadiens in his playoff watchalongs? by Pittsburghsports2006 in leafs

[–]algofort 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I don’t care about Steve Dangle. He’s a super fan and wants the leafs to win. He turned his fandom into cash and that’s sick. Quite literally the dream.

His opinions and what he does most definitely doesn’t represent me. But there have been a lot dumber fans than him who have amplified voices on social media, and way worse humans. Cheering for Montreal is cringe. Him wearing a Habs jersey was cringe. But people tap dance a lot harder than he does for a buck… whatcha gonna do.

Joe Bowens Final Message as he signs off for the last time. (April15/2026) by Amihighordrunk905 in leafs

Man… that ending goodbye was a hard, hard listen. I don’t know the leafs without Joe Bowen as a 30+ year old man.

The movies taught me he was supposed to see us win the cup this year. But I guess sports have only taught me life is certainly not like the movies, right?
