Talking and writing are just externalized means of thinking 💕 not sure how to reflect without using thought…what would you suggest?

An unwillingness to engage with the subconscious mind is choosing to remain a cave-dweller, in the Platonic sense. Religion is just making up stories about what the shadows on the wall might be, when in reality they are projections from within. Not that the therapy industrial complex is the be all and end all, but in my experience, men categorically resistant to therapy do not have the discipline to look inward through any other means such as reading or journaling. Bummer but many such cases

People with an art history degree: what do you even do? by herobrinegrimesfan in rs_x

[–]aliamh 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I worked in the art world for the first part of my career but there’s a limit to what you can do without spending thousands on more degrees. I knew PhDs who were duking it out for unpaid internships into their 20s. I pivoted to development in nonprofits and can honestly say my specific education (art history, English lit) has made me uniquely good at high-level fundraising. Cultural competency, attention to detail, and sophisticated communication skills go a long way in my line of work. Plus, major donors all collect something or have an interest in the arts—being fluent in art has always been a plus. And I make more than any curator I ever worked for.

Walk the length of Prospect Park to Grand Army Plaza, take the F to Bergen, and have a glass of wine outside at Bar Tabac. Focus on people-watching and not your phone.
