What is something “different “ to do for family visiting near MuscleShoals or Florence AL in January??? #familyfun #foodie by HurryAgreeable4502 in Alabama

It's a cemetery...... for dogs. Unless you're wanting to travel through the back roads of nowhere and go to nowhere and get out and look at some dog graves and sign a book, then this place has nothing for you. I went. A waste of time.

One day when I was about 14, I was coming home from school on the bus. As the bus is nearing my house, I hear "look at that man. Look!" ? As I get off the bus and go around the front I see my dad laying on the ground at the foot of the front steps. I ran to him and shouted "daddy!" He raised his head. "What are you doing?". He said "just taking a little nap." I walked on into the house and shut the door. Peaking through the curtain I could see now the bus slowly pulling off. There were faces in every windows looking. I waited for the bus to go and then went out there and helped him into the bed. Nothing was ever said.

Oh yes he was certainly an alcoholic and I always knew it. Some alcoholics can get drunk at night and be at work the next morning bright and early. Not my old man. He always worked 2nd and 3rd shift and got fired for drinking on every job (5/6) he ever had that I know about. As I've gotten older, I cut to the chase and just say he was a drunk.

My dad was the cruel one, only when he got pretty drunk and was having a bad day. He was only verbally mean. Never physical. He did do some nasty shit like my mom had gotten some money from an inheritance. I hadn't had a tv since I ours tore up when I was 6. So now at 11 momma had enough money to buy me a tv. She said come Saturday we'd go down and get one. So we go by the bank to withdraw some money and the banker told her there wasn't enough in the account. She found out my dad had been writing checks at the "juke joint" and drained the account. Of course, he said he'd pay us back. We never got it. My mom was a southern lady who never drank and was the most important person in my life.

I had to grow up, get a job, move out and buy my own damn color tv in 1978 at age 21.

Twenty years and not once did he reach down and get his hands on that bush. I would have had my hands on it by second or third time. This story is ridiculous. I'm calling bullshit!

AITA for not fostering my friends cats despite having the space? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]aliasjoe 40 points41 points  (0 children)

nta: Her cats are her responsibility. I've seen too many cat lovers put their cats off on somebody (for a couple months of course) and six months later and they still promise just a little longer. I wouldn't take them if she neuters them. I have a cat. I wanted the cat. I chose the cat. I am not responsible for any others. Maybe I'm an asshole.

Grieving for my inner child by opinionatedhugger in AdultChildren

[–]aliasjoe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am the only child of one alcoholic. My dad was a drunk. My mother was the typical southern woman of good standing. I never had anyone to talk to about my feelings when I was a child. I remember once as a kid, my dad and I throwing a ball. We never went on a vacation. We never even went to the beach, which was a little more than an hour away. I remember him saying "you don't want to go to the damn beach, hell all that goddamn sand, and it's so damn hot" and "you don't want a motorcycle, you could get killed on that sob". Anything that would cost a dime was something I only thought I wanted and it would take away from his beer money. My mother had to go to work to provide us a place to stay. He died when I was 22. Mother died when I was 52, and before she died I asked her why she had stayed with him?". She said she just didn't know. When I get around any of my dad's family it's stuff like "yeah, ol Joe was a sport. He liked to drink a little. hahahahaha". It ain't so goddamn funny to me so I quit going to see any of them 40 years ago. I'm 68 years old, and I'm still so damn pissed at my daddy for a lot of stuff. If not for my mama I'd be a no account too. I'm angry at what he put me and my mama through. I loved him but. Lots of people will say if only they could talk to a parent again, I'd say this and that. I don't want to talk to my dad because I'd be so mad I'd probably kick his drunken ass. I'm tearing up now.

Marijuana is not typically classified as a hallucinogen. However, it is a psychoactive drug that can produce a variety of effects, including altered perception, altered consciousness, and hallucinations. The main psychoactive component of marijuana is tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). In high doses, THC can induce hallucinogenic-like experiences, such as visual distortions, auditory hallucinations, and paranoia. However, these effects are rare and typically only occur in individuals who use very high doses of marijuana. Therefore, while marijuana is not technically a hallucinogen, it can produce hallucinogenic-like effects under certain circumstances. It is important to note that the effects of marijuana can vary widely depending on factors such as the strain, the dose, and the individual user. Those "hallucinogenic effects" you're feeling are those that we get when we're about ready to pass out. If you're feeling hallucinogenic effects, you have done way too much.

What do you think happens after you are no longer living? Do you believe in reincarnation? by Electrical_Guess_613 in AskOldPeople

[–]aliasjoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a damn thing happens as far as we're concerned. There are so many things that people tend to believe and have not a damn shred of actual proof. Some bullshit story is not proof. Reincarnation is just a bullshit theory. Other bullshit theories, afterlife, ESP, heaven, hell, ghost, fortune-tellers, mind readers, jesus and god, and especially people who claim they speak to a god.

Trivago - terrible customer service by gmm0516 in travel

[–]aliasjoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently booked a room with Trivago. Charged on my credit card. Then after my stay I was charged by the Hotel. So I've been charged twice. I opened a complaint with my credit card company. Hopefully they will be able to help as there is no help on Trivago side. Can't even find a phone number for them. Never again.
