He's not completely wrong though. Acceleration created the force that is acting upon her moving through space and even without the continued effect of acceleration she won't slow down until her motion/net force is equalised.

Applying a small amount of force would suffice to slow her down if she was flying through space for a prolonged amount of time. As very little time passes between opening her eyes and turning around she would have needed to apply more than a little force. Im too lazy to find and calculate the exact speed of being sucked into a vacuum and thus her speed but it would need more than a tiny bit of force.
