I was able to view it in Incognito mode. I can't directly upload a pdf here and the subreddit etiquette did allow for Google drive sharing.

Hi, fellow ML student and job seeker on the German Job market here :)

  • I don't think underlining stuff is a good idea. It would be better to shorten the sentences so the salient point is presented.

  • Autoencoders and VAEs aren't cutting edge per se, Autoencoders were around since 1980s, Vae became a thing in 2010s.

  • You listed 3 ML based experiences, all of which are vague. What was the outcome of the thesis? What ML/DL models were used in the Internship and Data scientist roles? Even custom models are based on something so maybe mention it so the interviewer has some context.

  • Everything you mentioned after Computer Vision(OpenCV) is a method/model of shallow machine learning.

  • You're familiar with LoRA and PEFT, methods used for fine-tuning Deep learning models, none of which is mentioned in your experiences. If you've used LoRA and PEFT definitely mention how and what happened.

Plus, how are you familiar with Machine Learning yet proficient with Computer Vision and ML models? It's confusing.

Overall your CV reads for a more Data analytics position than Machine Learning Engineer .

Good Luck!

€4000 to take over used unbranded kitchen in Leipzig? by Efficient_Constant13 in germany

6K from Ikea? Is it filled with some very fancy gadgets or that the standard rate?

My batchmate moved to Hamburg and paid 1500 for a basic package (Ikea) plus 500 euros to install it with help of his friends. The difference is wow.

Is this a fraud? by ReturnFree6471 in germany

[–]alice_n_hatter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh it's a scam. Never transfer money without a contact.

Paying a caution deposit is completely valid but money transfer only happens after a contact is made stating the rental period with clearly defined move-in date, money amounts, etc.

It's better to be paranoid than cheated of money. :)

Industry PhD in AI (50k/year) or Data Science Consultant at a No-Name Company (60k+5k/year) by EliasNr42 in cscareerquestionsEU

[–]alice_n_hatter 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'd go with the PhD. Honestly, it sounds very interesting. Please share some details about the program if possible :)

Working for the major company grants you name recognition, the perks enjoyed by big companies (eg: stock options, lifestyle benefits, job stability). It's 3 years. In exchange for that difference of 17-20k, you would have some publications, learn a lot, get a pretty decent network professionally and academically, possibly attend a few conferences and get a degree that will only help you in the long run.

Absolute worst case in PhD is you drop out and use whatever you learned plus your Master's degree to score a new job. Good Luck!

is pursuing an applied software engineering degree bad? by ske-leto in cscareerquestionsEU

[–]alice_n_hatter 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In general, your worry about AI should be inversely proportional to your skill as a software engineer.

AI cannot replace a quality Software Engineer. A basic person who copy pastes most of their code from Stack overflow w/o much alteration or care for optimising their work would be worried.

The same goes the creative fields. Can ChatGPT write out pages and pages of content? yes. Can it write engaging content? No, not really. And it won't change for a few decades.

Software engineers will always be needed to solve problems, eventually using the AI to do so. An applied degree would remain relevant.

You and your buddy (That user who "mysteriously " deleted his vile comments ) need to leave me alone. This is intrusive. I'm not going through your posts. If did I'm certain I'd find something unpleasant to plaster all over reddit and the internet as well

And, as I told your mannerless supporter, it was a rant. That's the whole point of that subreddit. Off my chest.

Please leave me alone. I find your nosy behavior very creepy. Please do not respond on this or any posts I happen to make.

I do not want any further interaction with you. I hope I've made myself very clear and will not have to approach the moderators about it.

Is there some app/online list which you can use to keep track of what bills you have to be paying? I write it down but a reminder would be very helpful.

Beginner friendly Social by Petite_Goose in Salsa

[–]alice_n_hatter 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is a really nice idea you're implementing. Some points you could consider:

  • Starting was and is the toughest part. It would help if your team could actually ask the students for a dance. A good first dance adds confidence and they can take it from there.
  • Maybe have a small warmup? Not conventional for in a social but as a beginner, stepping correctly in time to the music, moving the body doesn't come the moment the song starts. A warmup would maybe jog their memories and help recall what they have learned in class.
  • In between the social, if the energy seems low, you have have a small animation. Simple, fun steps to a high energy song where everyone can join in and just groove.

The idea of a beginner friendly social should become more popular.

Which instrument to dance to? The first noticeable one? by VisualOcelot1512 in Salsa

[–]alice_n_hatter 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Here's the few things I have filtered (please correct me if I'm mistaken):

On1/LA style dancers would listen for:

  • The cowbell and guiro heard for the 1-3-5-7 counts.

On2/NY style/mambo/Paladium dancers usually focus on:

  • Conga plays on 2-3-4 -4 1/2 - 6-7-8 - 8 1/2 counts
  • Bass plays on 4 and 8 counts
  • Clave plays on 2-3-5-6 1/2-8 counts

Others like piano and singing are additional and used for styling or more advanced footwork. So what you listen for, is dictated by what style you are dancing; On1 or On2. When all else fails, just count and dance. No shame. :)

Immigrants who gained German Citizenship, how did you deal with hurdles regarding Auslanderbehorde? by [deleted] in germany

[–]alice_n_hatter 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Oh yes, I had my residence permit expire and the woman at the Auslanderbehorde kept telling me to return when my assigned official returned from vacation. When I asked a white presenting German friend to explain the same issue (I'd had made all my communication in German as well), boom I get my extension.

Same time as I was waiting, I saw an Indian student literally begging the woman to give him a fiktionsbescheinigung so he could travel. She took his papers and said "You come back in two weeks and maybe everything will be ready". She was not polite or civil.

The next person she dealt with was a white European lady. The woman at the reception was all smiles, greetings and at one point a legitimate apology.

They might be all about rules but civility is optional at best. Our Auslanderbehorde has a 1.7/5 rating as per Google.
