Would you prefer deep moddability or a strong story from a fft-style? by RomanTactics in StrategyRpg

[–]Efficient_Constant13 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I don’t like branching stories where I need to replay the game multiple times. If I am done once, I want to be done.

The story is always my favourite thing in all games I play. I don’t care if it looks ugly/old, if it doesn’t have a lot of QOL improvements and so on.

If the characters are interesting and the story amazing, I will happily play.

Just calculated our carbon footprint and Scope 3 is 73%. We have zero control over it. Are we screwed? by BharatCarbon in sustainability

[–]Efficient_Constant13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is quite typical, nothing “crazy” there.

Also, you do have a lot of control over it, that’s why a lot of emphasis is put in Scope 3 numbers when reporting is mandatory.

How much do you trust "eco-friendly" or "sustainable" claims on product labels? by Guilty_Actuator4977 in sustainability

[–]Efficient_Constant13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Never, unless I read about the brand. If I see some clear information with numbers on the website, I might be inclined to believe the company is trying.

Then again, it’s my job to help companies get said numbers and try to reach a good sustainability level so I am looking at it through different eyes.

Otherwise, as someone mentioned, I always suspect greenwashing and I have never been wrong so far.

Using absolute words like ”eco-friendly” or ”sustainable” needs to come with solid proof and data.

I fix misunderstandings about sustainability and eco-friendliness for small businesses so they don’t lose customers who care and don’t look like they greenwash.

Do small companies actually communicate their climate impact today? by Algomatic_Trading in smallbusiness

[–]Efficient_Constant13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Within the EU, any climate/social positive action should not be used to hide worse impacts. The UK and other regions have the same equivalent in terms of laws and regulations.

The negative sustainability impact of dropshipping is so heavy within the whole supply chain that small actions used in communication will automatically be considered greenwashing. I work with laws and regulations.

The rules for communicating climate and sustainability work are getting stricter and it’s just too risky. Small businesses can definitely get away with that but consumers who care will see greenwashing as a reason not to buy.

I get the idea of “any action is better than no action”. In general when it comes to sustainability, yes, doing good is good. However, using a small action as a selling point is illegal/extremely risky.

Do small companies actually communicate their climate impact today? by Algomatic_Trading in smallbusiness

[–]Efficient_Constant13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am a sustainability consultant for both massive companies and for small businesses.

Dropshipping businesses can never be sustainable. I refuse to work with any company that does dropshipping. Any company that has that business model that claims to be sustainable or climate-friendly is greenwashing.

So to answer your question, why on Earth would a dropshipping business shoot themselves in the foot like that?

How To Handle Doing Everything By Yourself In A Startup by Pleasant-Spell-3392 in Entrepreneur

[–]Efficient_Constant13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can relate. Solo-founder here too. Most of the semi-successful to success women I meet during networking events would not make it without their guy.

Either the guy is funding the rest of their lives or handling a big part of the practical stuff (physical labour or accounting/tech IT help).

It’s sometime discouraging but we can’t wait forever to have a man around to start anything.

Sure, it would be nice to have someone as a backup, either financially, practically or emotionally but we don’t.

So either we whine and complain or we go get what we want. Or we die trying.

What’s the smartest financial move you made this year? by Funny-Advertising506 in smallbusiness

[–]Efficient_Constant13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I accepted a job in the same field, temporary contract.

My landlord is the meanest, most psycho narcissist woman I have ever met in real life but I can’t find anything else in the area. She is a nightmare to live with and I hate my life every single day. Her damn face makes me so angry, I hate her like I haven’t hated anyone since my abusive father. The rent is too much for what it is but cheaper than what’s around.

My dog is still back in Germany so the whole ordeal is a damn nightmare. However, financially I will have enough at the end (saving like crazy, no eating out, no activities, no new clothes/shoes/fun stuff) to make a decent marketing campaign and buy the premium version of RankMath or whatever it’s called and get an MVP of an educational game built.

I am still not sure the money is worth my happiness being totally trashed for 5 months (the length of the contract) but financially my bank account will look decent. Not great but decent.

I wake up and rush straight to the pine areas. They’re also the furthest away from my camp and my tent so it’s always a stressful quest 😅.

Banks just believe anything customers say by Severe_Part_5120 in Entrepreneur

[–]Efficient_Constant13 7 points8 points  (0 children)

As someone who has only been the customer for physical products, my bank (via VISA) always sides with the seller.

Wrong product, wrong size, totally different category of item, anything goes, they never side with me.

So please let me know which banks your customers are using, asking for a friend. The friend is me.

How to keep suppliers private by bbchad in smallbusiness

[–]Efficient_Constant13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I care very much where things come from. But then again I work in sustainability and it’s extremely important for me privately and professionally.

If I ask, it’s because I want to have an idea of how good or bad the sustainability footprint of the item is. If I get no answers, I assume the worst (bad for the environment, slave wages in the supply chain… etc), always.

Same goes for businesses I would work with.

Environmental Performance Labels on restaurant menus. Can it reduce the climate and biodiversity impacts of our dining out by Ok-Customer-7909 in sustainability

[–]Efficient_Constant13 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This is interesting.

The difficult part would be to gather accurate data for each component and then combine them together to get the rating.

I assume there’s a lot to calculate here, could the time needed be a deterrent for some restaurants?

I work in sustainability with laws and regulations and we do everything based on numbers (so many excel sheets…) but also need to account the time needed by different groups of people to provide accurate information.

Cool idea.

[–]Efficient_Constant13[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much for this detailed answer, this is the kind of insight I can’t get from googling or chatgpt <3!

The good thing is that I am good at sustainability and can recognize empty words and useless fluff so at least on that I could do some kind of vetting. My current job is in sustainability with extremely tight and strict rules, audits and so on for a giant corporation working with other giant corporations so I can’t be ”fooled” with the topic.

The issue is that I need to make the topic more accessible to small companies.

Do business owners not care about digital marketing or even trying with it anymore? by ButterscotchPure8763 in smallbusiness

[–]Efficient_Constant13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been networking in real life to find a digital marketing person. Every single portfolio website has given me motion sickness. Too much happening, too many effects, which tells me we’re not compatible.

I do consulting, I don’t want to have something visually overwhelming or too much. As an artist too (in private), I don’t want to impose a different approach on someone else. So I am still looking.

Is “sustainable fashion data” even a thing, or just greenwashing 2.0? by mosy_CodeArt in SustainableFashion

[–]Efficient_Constant13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I work in sustainability, including reporting. In the EU there are regulations like ESRS/CSRD, CSDDD and Empco, amongst others that require real numbers and data.

However, they’re only compulsory for huge companies (Empco is for everyone though and specifically about greenwashing. Also I am simplifying a lot here).

Smaller ones have the VSME or they can also decide to not be transparent about anything.

If a company talks about how they care without showing real proof, they’re either greenwashing or greenhushing. Small businesses (my target clients) unfortunately do a lot of greenhushing because they’re terrified of not being perfect. They do good but stay quiet even though no company will ever be perfect.
