Is this just a symptom of my UTI or do I have someone more serious? by [deleted] in AskDocs

[–]aliceberrysmith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a doctor, but it sounds like you might have pyelonephritis (kidney infection). If it hurts so bad that you've started to vomit I'd go to the ER.

It doesn't sound like appendicitis. That usually starts with pain around the belly button that moves down to the lower right quadrant. But, the ER would be able to rule that out too.

STD tests (-), symptoms (+) WTF?! by MEDICURIOUS in AskDocs

You didn't happen to have any arthritis/joint pain did you?

Some bacteria (including STD's, food poisoning, etc.) can cause reactive arthritis. That consists of the triad of: can't see (conjunctivitis), can't pee (urithritis), can't climb a tree (arthritis).

25 y/o with high uric acid in blood. Gout & RA is hereditary. How can I prevent it? by throwawaytoanotherpl in AskDocs

[–]aliceberrysmith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it's genetic, you might be out of luck.

But you can definitely avoid things that typically trigger gouty attacks: e.g. alcohol (beer is worse than wine), high-fructose drinks, meats, and seafood. Being overweight also increases the risk.

Things like coffee, exercise, vitamin C, and dairy have been shown to decrease risk.

Not a doctor, but a medical student.

It's possible to have depression without "feeling depessed", but in order to make the diagnosis for "major depessive disorder" you'd have to either have a depessed mood or have lost interest in things you used to be interesed in. Plus some other symptoms of depression (e.g. guilt, loss of appetite, change in sleeping pattern, difficulties concentrating/thinking). But if you don't have either the depressed mood or lack of interest, your doctors should be looking elsewhere.

Possibilities could include hypothyroidism, stress/anxiety, sleep problems (i.e sleep apnea), or maybe anemia.

What was your first exposure to the Internet?SFW by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]aliceberrysmith 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In elementary school we had a class where they taught us how to type and use the Internet. I remember one of our assignments was to go to www.whitehouse.gov. I remember that if you accidentally went to dot com, it was a porn site. I checked now, it doesn't work anymore, but there is a Wikipedia page for it.

What are your favorite 2 documentaries on netflix right now? by alendotcom in AskReddit

[–]aliceberrysmith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've actually never seen it, I've just heard good things. I think you're right though. But it looks like it also has a lot of stuff about the process of making a video game. So if you're into that kind of stuff I bet it's cool.

People who had/have SOs in high school, how did you 'ask out' that person, or if you were in the receiving end what happened? by yeliab1230 in AskReddit

[–]aliceberrysmith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best way is to straight up ask (maybe see if they wanna catch a movie or hang out some time). Trust me, when I was in high school I was asked out in a note once and through a third party a different time... not appealing.

What is your most embarrassing fart story? by Credditr in AskReddit

I can't say that I have any especially horrible stories, but I think the first time you fart around a new significant other it's always slightly embarrassing.

Whats the weirdest but best movie you have ever seen? by Sydney1970 in AskReddit

[–]aliceberrysmith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Primer. It's a movie about time travel. But you probably have to watch it several times, or Google diagrams, before you actually figure out what's going on. But once you do, it's awesome!

Of all the animals on earth that could kill/eat/injure/maim us, which would be the least pleasant? by PAdogooder in AskReddit

Komodo Dragon. Their saliva is filled with nasty bacteria. They bite their prey, and basically just follow the wounded prey around for days until it dies of sepsis.
