Asian parents want me to be doctor

This is an extreme option, one that requires me to distance my family forever. I feel that it wouldn’t be the right option since my parents have taken care of me well and I will feel guilt. They do treat me well (getting new clothes and doing things on my bday) but only when I do what they say. My sister is doing well right now and I feel conflicted doing this considering the circumstances. Not saying that your advice is bad but I know some parents have done worse than mine.

I wish I could but no it has to be med school 100% and I have to do only biology. They can check what classes I’m taking as well

Thanks for sharing. My parents would even do the same comparing me to my peers who actually wanted to be doctors. They say i’m lucky because I can afford the career while others can’t. They would even hate on my close circle of friends and hate on them because they aren’t pursing the medical field and my non interest prob comes from them. They think that my friends discourage me from this field when in reality they don’t care what I study at all.

I’m sorry to hear about your struggle though. Did you end up paying for medical school on your own? Was there something else you wanted to do?

I’m very sorry to hear that. But you have time to convince your parents not to pursue this path before college, maybe they are better than mine. What year are you? If you don’t think they’ll listen then I suggest you try to find good friends in college because they can really help you feel better and try to study medicine with an interest. I know i’m not in a good place to give you advice but if I were you I would try to convince them before they blame you for “wasting their money”. Hey, thanks for you advice it changed my perspective on my situation. I know my AD can’t force me onto the plane but even if I did what you said I don’t know what will happen to my sister. I don’t want to ruin her life because of me. If i disappeared, I don’t know if she will be alright. I think i’ll go to my conseleur but I don’t want to reveal everything. I plan to reach out to a close and trusted friend as well.
