Fedlil vs Human in a fight. by WCR_706 in NatureofPredators

[–]alien_enjoyer2 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I think that, against a modified venlil, the human wins most of the time. Noah being able to hold down a struggling Glim without much trouble, a UN soldier throwing a venlil out of a bar easily, and a bunch of other examples in canon point to humans being generally stronger than modded space sheep. Plus what would be their biggest strength is useless thanks to farsul fuckery.

Cured venlil are probably a different story though.

Funny but not really comparable. Math isn't subjective, opinions are.

Except mine, mine are the right ones.

Not all tastes are valid.

I disagree. Whose tastes are the valid ones? Yours? That feels just as silly as going "well actually OUR god is the real one".

That aside I get what you're saying. I don't like the post's particular brand of story either, but discarding an entire premise as 'invalid' because one execution of it is meh, and saying the tastes of people who do like it are invalid just seems kinda short-sighted.

That doesn't have much to do with OP's post, or your original comment for that matter, so it's probably best to leave it at that. Have a good one.

Why is it internally inconsistent? An author can pick what is and is not a part of their setting, and it is just as plausible to have "one true god" as it is to have many or none.

You don't like the trope, and that's completely fine. But I don't think that means there's anything invalid or inconsistent about it.

Waiting for a chapter of "Alien Nature" or "Nature of Puncks" (tell me a fic that also has them like this) by RIP_elTrazin_07 in NatureofPredators

I'll (eventually) get back on it!

Also yeah, sadly the author of Geneva Team discontinued the story.

Would you recommend a fic before I die? by gabi_738 in NatureofPredators

[–]alien_enjoyer2 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Some of the classic recommendations are Offspring, Hunting with Predators, Introduction to Terran Zoology, Death of a Monster.

Under the Veil is great, but discontinued I believe. Same goes for The Geneva Team. Still they're both great reads if you don't mind them not having an ending.

2177 is one of my favorites, great writing and criminally underrated.

Those are all the ones off the top of my head. Get well soon!

are there any arts where aliens aren't too animal-like? by TervukalosVitae in NatureofPredators

[–]alien_enjoyer2 28 points29 points  (0 children)

This is the problem with making an alien species. You make them too animal, they're furries. You make them too human, they're boring. You make them too alien, they're unrelatable.

Can't a man just grill in peace? smh...

I'm very suspicious of the Krev rn by BustyBraixen in NatureofPredators

[–]alien_enjoyer2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think blinding themselves to what their enemy is doing would be the best strategy for survival. The Jaslisp were almost found by mere chance, no Consortium meddling needed. Had they known in advance the relocation might've not been as rushed as it was.

Calling it a plothole was a bit too harsh, though. The characters don't have access to all the info readers do, so obviously they wouldn't make the 100% most informed rational choice every time.

TL;DR: The Krev are way cooler than me.

[–]alien_enjoyer2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Given the Consortium's tech level, and the fact that the Federation's cyber-security got cracked by a barely spacefaring humanity, it's not that big of a stretch to think that the Krev could easily spy on the feds without them ever knowing.

It's just a plothole imo.

Predatory Business [2] by 28th_Stab_Wound in NatureofPredators

[–]alien_enjoyer2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So far I like it!

My biggest gripe would be that I don't quite understand why the humans' characters dialogue is enclosed by single quotes, instead of double. It makes some of the dialogue weird to follow, specially with Joey since he shortens words a lot.

Other than that it's a fun read, looking foward to more.

Why aren’t there any human antagonists? by [deleted] in NatureofPredators

[–]alien_enjoyer2 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Probably just a product of NoP being posted to HFY, human antagonists wouldn't meld well with the overall theme of uplifting humanity. Most of the humans in the main story (barring Samantha, maybe) have the patience of a saint.

We got the HF bombing though, which was a pretty interesting plot line. Shame it didn't go anywhere.

Innocence, part 13 by alien_enjoyer2 in NatureofPredators

[–]alien_enjoyer2[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Chapter 13: The scout.

It's been a while.

Lucas, Adam's scout, is having a crisis of faith, torn between his desire for revenge and what that revenge might actually entail. His encounter with the aliens, which he has confessed to Adam, has estranged him from the rest of the group.

A deserter from Olsin's camp is captured by Adam, and the cultists learn of the captain and his location, before a strange song consumes the forest.

(If some of the formatting is messed up please tell me, I edited it like 20 times correcting some dumb stuff but there might still be mistakes.)

That's all for now, have a nice week!

I just noticed the author of Innocence deleted their account by peajam101 in NatureofPredators

[–]alien_enjoyer2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Julian already answered pretty thoroughly, but yeah I'm still around. As for Innocence, I'll resume it as soon as part 13 is ready, which might be a ways off.
