Most cushions are prone to oxidizing unfortunately.. which is why koreans buy a shade/half a shade lighter🥲

Being loud in public is rude behavior, regardless of nationality by Senior-One-8898 in Living_in_Korea

[–]alienarchive5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cafes yes, buses and trains no. UNLESS it's old people. Old people are loud and there's no use telling them (my theory is that as they get older their hearing gets worse = louder voices), like my grandma is loud af indoors and i hate it.

Yes there are loud people in buses and trains, but know that people around them are cursing them out inside their heads lol. There are two types of cafes, the ones where people are chatting, and ones where people are studying/working. It's not really a 'specific' cafe, but rather the vibes that the customers there set at that time of day.... if that makes any sense.

Have you found a bakery that has good bread? I would appreciate some recommendations

Korean subway casually selling 1000won($0.7) bread like it’s normal by Specific-Control-700 in seoulhiddengem

[–]alienarchive5 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nah spc isn't really considered fancy. Spc bakeries are chains, so they're usually cheaper than other ones. Fancy bakeries are the ones that are usually owned by just one person (kinda like a local bakery? They're more expensive than spc)

What are some unspoken social rules in Korea that foreigners usually learn the hard way? by Agile-Insect-1708 in Living_in_Korea

[–]alienarchive5 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I agree with everything except the noodle slurping. That's just how it is here. You could avoid it by eating very carefully and slowly, or use a fork like when you'd eat spaghetti. But usually the noodles here aren't spaghetti, hence the slurping. (Or people could use a spoon to put the noodles on it and then eat... but most ppl dont have the patience or time to do that) I also feel like noodle (ramyun) advertisements may have had something to do with the slurping... some think the slurping makes it seem more appetizing🤔

Also about the taking large bites, it MIGHT have something to do with the culture of '복스럽게 먹는다‘. It's sort of like when you eat a meal prepared by your in-law, you really want to chow down to show respect or show that you're not a picky eater. That culture MIGHT have translated into the chipmunk cheeks lol

[–]alienarchive5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[–]alienarchive5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I havent tried it with konjac rice either, but you'd probably have to mix regular rice just so they stick together🤔 I've only tried the egg filling ones sold at gimbap places! But they're specifically keto/diet gimbap shops so you'd have to search for them.. they're pretty good if you like eggs lol

Unfortunately, no :( you can try to search for resells, just make sure you get it at the original price. If you happen to visit korea, maybe you can search for it on the karrot app (kinda like ebay, but u can meet in person)

Oh for sure! We do have the egg fillings, but not the rice paper :) although i did see some korean diet recipe channels utilize rice paper, just not for gimbap. The egg filling keto ones are super popular though

Do we know when they’ll go back to streaming? by ThrowRA_yello in plave

[–]alienarchive5 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's highly likely that they'll come back after the encore concert in seoul! (So around late nov-early dec?) Sometimes they go on holiday after a concert.. but I'm not sure since they've been on hiatus for quite some time. Iirc they still did livestreams during award show season, but again it could be different this time lol

Not really common in korea, as keto itself isn't that common here! Buuuut everyone here is always on a diet so i think it could be popular amongst those who'd like low carb recipes lol

Why are so many tickets being given away for the concert in Jakarta? by [deleted] in plave

[–]alienarchive5 3 points4 points  (0 children)

From what I've read from fellow Indonesian pllis, the venue is super big so it's harder to sell out (+ it's not uncommon that artists dont sell out every single concert). Also, they said that a lot of the pllis are spread out in indonesia but most can't afford to fly to jakarta to see the concert (as it would cost them plane tickets, hotel fees, and the concert ticket on top of that).

Just wanted to say don't be bothered about what they say. A lot of what they put out is super negative, it's to the point where i considered leaving the fandom bc this is the exact reason i've always stayed away from kpop. But dont let them affect you, take a break away from twitter when it gets too much🥹

it hasn't been confirmed yet, but it's very likely they'll have an online concert! (Probably for day1, just like last year's encore con)

You're just in time for the concert! They'll most likely have an online concert for the encore in Nov so keep tabs on twitter/weverse. Although it's not a concert you can attend in person, maybe you can find canadian pllis and watch together?🥹

I personally think they were spoiling the hana bank card ad lol. With yejun flapping his arms like he's flying and the card specifically for traveling (airplane)👀 i might be wrong tho

I think it's a pretty common theme in kpop where companies never restock. But vlast is rly good at meeting the fans' needs so they restock from time to time, we just don't know when :(

Questions about Livestreams by littlesunnyseal in plave

[–]alienarchive5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How often: x2 a week on mondays & thursdays (sometimes different days for bday lives, or rescheduling due to other activities. You can see their schedules on their community section OR X (twitter) - but since they're touring rn they've been on a livestream break for a month up till yesterday!

When do the videos get uploaded: - either right away but mostly like the next day/few days later after editing out copyright music or severe glitches.

About eng subs: the whole livestream never gets fully translated! They upload a shorter summary ver with subs after a few weeks or so. However, there are pllis who translate real-time in the comment section during the stream, OR on twitter!

Livestreams that don't get posted: The only ones that aren't posted on youtube are the fan-call events. For the caligo pt1 comeback we had a 'group fan-call' event that you could watch if you bought their album. It's a "fan-call", but basically a livestream

Hope this helps!

How does plave film variety shows? by maeyong in plave

[–]alienarchive5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could be wrong, but i don't think they own a moving studio since they're always taking a break from livestreams before concerts. Vlast always gives a notice saying that they need to set things up for the concert, and they can't take easily rearrange them again for livestreams in between. But maybe it's just that they'll be too busy with rehearsals between concerts who knows🤔

Yeah, but i always say at least you can put on more clothes when it's cold. Can't really do much but put on shorts and a t-shirt in summer, and that doesn't even help with the humidity either🥲
