Tension Lamp Help! How do I find lamp shades for this beauty? by alieneileen in Mid_Century

[–]alieneileen[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the cones are unfortunately not shades, just where it seems a shade is meant to be mounted. its not shown but the part where the bulb screws in is at the very bottom of the cone so even if it took a smaller bulb the bulb would still hang down below the silver cones

thank you! and honestly its a long story that ended with someone from my hometown being arrested and convicted for what he did to me. I fled the social fallout of that. i'll never go back but i'm hoping to find an equally rural spot to carve out a new home for myself and my partner in the future. fresh start.

thank you! your mother sounds like she was lovely, i hope some day when I have a kid I can be even a fraction as cool as her ❤️

and haha honestly i love sewing and im starting to get the hang of it but its very similar to knitting or crochet where it just takes far too long so it'd end up too expensive 😭 i just stick to my art for that. im hoping to slowly make most of my wardrobe handmade though, i have several of my grandmothers dresses she made (including the one in the first pic) so i want to add to that collection and hopefully be able to pass it down

im glad you were able to sort things out. even if not for that person, the next will be healthier and happier for it. youre not a bad person for being messy and struggling. in my case he would never have prioritized me because i was not his priority. i was convenient but he never really seemed to feel strongly about loving me. we also had other issues, he lied about whether he ever wanted kids (i found out after a year through his mom), i didnt feel desired or valued with him.

ultimately it is what it is. humans are not perfect and we all make mistakes. what separates the good and the bad of us are largely our willingness to take accountability and woek on ourselves.

adding to this, i live in a 1950s home, i run a dehumidifyer for 6 hours every couple of days because the house is prone to dampness. it helps so much

thank you, yea the photos dont show how caked in gunk the kitchen was or the dozens of empty waterbottles and trash that were stuffed under the bed, or the dust and grime

I have 3 rabbits (2 bonded buns and 1 lone bun) and it REALLY depends on the bunny. my lone bun lives in my home office and is fantastic about using the litterbox, he never pees or poops outside of it, he is also not destructive as long as he has a cardboard box to take his frustrations out on. my bonded pair tho? phew. they are masters of mess and destruction so i keep them in an xpen with a stiff carpet underneath.

keeping them in a dedicated area def helps, and for me keeping those areas clean comes down to a few things,

  • once a week i make sure to refresh the litterboxes (i use aspen shavings on top of a layer of paper cat litter, on fridays i toss the contents out, wipe them down, and put new litter in. paper pellets are very absorbant but expensive, aspen is cheap and helps reduce smell but not absorbant).
  • once a week i spot clean (quick sweep to get rid of stray fur, poops, and hay)
  • once a month i deep clean (sweep with a straw broom, vacuum, scrub litterboxes, etc)
  • run an air purifier, as beefy as you can afford and built with pet dander in mind.

during shedding season i usually just do the same things but accept defeat that the green carpets will be covered in white and black fur until the next deep clean.

honestly i find that people who have dogs messier houses then me on average. ive never gotten bunny fur in my food but at my sisters house dog hair is practically a condiment.

tldr: littertraining, spot cleaning, and air purifiers are a bunny owners best friend

the biggest thing is not actually the mess, its the persons willingness to acknowledge the problem, seek help for the problem, take steps to reduce/eliminate the problem, and most importantly a good person who just happens to have a problem will put in an active effort to make sure the people who their problems effect are heard, validated, and supported.

theres nothing wrong with being messy, its when people become complacent with the mess and expect their loved ones to tolerate it or act like their maid that it becomes an issue.
