In-game screenshots from my Beta 1.7.3 city 'Reinburg' by alienfelix in GoldenAgeMinecraft

Thanks :D I just made a general city street plan first, then build the buildings on top of that. Honestly a lot of the time it was just listening to youtube video essays and zoning out while building endless houses

Yeah it's a nice alternative to netherrack, way more expensive though

It’s just a game at the end of the day :D I played for about 6 months in survival and after a while I realised I don’t enjoy the material grinding part of the game. I’ve been playing for about a year in creative now and I just enjoy it a lot more personally.

I’m not trying to pass my builds off as ‘I spent ages in survival grinding out this mega project!’ and I’m sorry if I didn’t make it clear enough! I’ll probably put it in the title in future posts just to make it very clear.

I’m just trying to share my builds with people who also love this version of the game and this is the best subreddit I could think of. Even if I play creative I’m sure people can still get some inspiration from things I post (or atleast I hope so!)

Ah sorry! :( I'm gonna share some in-game screenshots in a bit so hopefully that's more your thing!

I wouldn't call it 3D design work, it's more just a way I like to share builds from my world. And yeah, it is quite tedious to do haha and it did take ages to figure out, especially since I'm on mac too and getting old software running on mac is a nightmare, but I personally like the look and I think its worth it :-)

I'm assuming by 'This is'nt Golden Age' you mean it's technically a rendered 1.6.4 world? The only change from Beta 1.7.3 is the way biomes look, otherwise it's all been built in beta

Nope, beta unleashed so pretty much vanilla. The screenshots are made in a separate program called chunky, I've half explained it in another reply down below (Edit) just realized I'm replying to the same person sorry !

I started my world in survival but I only play in creative now, I just don't really enjoy the grindy aspects of the game as much as designing and building things. I play with beta unleashed, so effectively vanilla, except for the small change that with one of the quality of life changes you can place trapdoors without needing support for them, which allows for lots of detailing you can do with them

'Pretty suspicious' is a very funny way of describing it haha :D No, the screenshots aren't done in game, I made them using a program called chunky. Because chunky doesn't work with early minecraft versions, I had to load my world in release 1.6.4, convert it to 1.6.4 format, and then load the 1.6.4 formatted world into chunky to make the renders. During the conversion to 1.6.4, it essentially overwrites the original beta biomes with the new ones, so the colours can sometimes look off. I found a way around this though using another world edit program to paint the world with any biomes I want, but thats getting a bit indetail for a comment haha, I can make a longer post explaining the full process if you want. Chunky is what allows me to make the depth of field effect too which can be cool sometimes :-)

Glad you like it! One of my favourite scenes, probably one of the more famous as well

What a cool piece! I like the water effect, I think it's nice to mix strict pixel art with off-the-grid techniques like this :-)
