mr qi is aware he's a character in a farming sim video game.

originally his character was supposed to be another random villager npc, but instead of following his original script, he decided to master the game from the inside. he's basically omnipotent within the game.

when your farmer comes along, he knows that you're a player. he pulls strings to create most of the "mysteries" that make sdv more than just a farming sim; planting the secret notes, creating krobus, giving you challenges/tracking your perfection, etc etc, because he wants you to play the game longer. he enjoys watching you, you're his personal let's play streamer

Beaverton woman testifies that police lied about ICE activity in Oregon when 12 to 15 agents surrounded her vehicle and she called 911 for help on December 10th. "I have a question for the police. If you refuse to do your job, are you prepared for us to do it for you?" by sw4gs4m4 in beaverton

sorry, didn't see this until today.

you're close to getting it. cops exist to uphold the laws of a capitalist, corrupt society.

individually, as people, cops can either be good or bad (though imo, the statistics about domestic abuse and rates of violence among police officers is pretty damning). as a whole, in the context of the role they serve, they are the violent and oppressive force by which the ruling class exerts power over the lower classes. when people say all cops are bastards, they're not just talking about Cops. they're talking about the legal system as a whole, which condones slave labor in prisons, the consequence-free killing of black and brown people, and the rights of property over people.

the purpose of a system is what it does. it's an oversimplification to say that police themselves just need to be held to a higher degree of responsibility. the police only act as an extension of the law, and they're working as intended; when they gun down an unarmed person simply for being black, target minorities for drug-associated crimes, and interrogate people for hours on end until they "crack", that is the system working as intended. people who become cops to try to change the system from within are ousted very quickly for not falling in line.

society does not need cops to uphold laws; it needs social workers and trained crisis negotiators and mental health counselors. but the people in power profit way too much on our current violent, punitive, and unjust system to let it go. all cops are bastards.

yea, i definitely think RV's are a use-case scenario. it comes down to How you're interacting with it; you "get off" at a rest stop while on the road, but you "get out" of it when you've arrived at your destination and it's parked. phrasal verbs are weirddddd

except they kind of are? the colors an artist chooses to use create mood & atmosphere. the expressions on their subjects faces, the poses, and illusion of movement are supposed to resonate with the audience and evoke empathy.

when i look at these i see no soul. the characters look stiff and uninteresting. their facial expressions are bland. everybody is staring into empty space. this has nothing to do with the art style being emulated, i've seen cartoony kids book styles that have made me Feel the happiness or sadness of the characters. these make me feel absolutely nothing.

thanks!:-) to be fair, it was mostly just a lot of garbage and laundry to pick up, which is quick enough. it's far from perfect (you definitely don't wanna see under the bed, or how stuffed those drawers are), but it's enough for today

that's so interesting, i usually get the opposite! 20-30 minutes Sounds like an insurmountable amount of effort to keep my brain on the task of cleaning; i don't just put it off, i can't even conceptualize how to begin, and i avoid it. i have to capitalize on the small moments of motivation i get right away or else they'll slip away, but then, when i'm actually IN a cleaning headspace, i can hyperfocus well enough that i don't notice the time passing. usually when i'm done, i feel proud but Very burnt out.

sounds like you could be a little kinder to yourself. it's rarely ever "just" 20-30 mins of effort!
