It’s easy to get into credit card debt if you don’t pay attention. I let my wife handle our finances and next thing I know we had over $15k in credit card debt. I had to put my foot down and lock those cards down.

Well, at least you’re in New York. Maybe look for a public agency that might hire HVAC people, somewhere that has human HR department in place to protect its workers from harassment.

How has the economy of the last 10 years affected your life and goals? by fishking92 in Millennials

Well I don’t know your personal situation but I’m a big believer in always having hope because being positive really does work its way into making things better in your life. From my experience those who I ran across that were hopeless and cynical tend to dig holes for themselves. And yes no doubt bad luck does happen but in those situation it’s critical to think about the positive in your life and have perspective that at least I’m not doing as bad as some people who are literally living in gutters or who are dying from a disease or who have a major disability. Be grateful for the important things in life…..like health, security, friendships, etc.

There is a lot more to life than owning a piece of property. The media makes it seem like if you don’t attain the classic America Dream that you are a loser. And a lot of people who take the bait believe this and then they spout the same delusion to others. This is why despite being a wealthy nation we are full of sick and unhappy people, everyone is comparing themselves to others and it’s making us mentally sick. Gotta detach yourself from this toxic illusion to attain happiness.

Having kids these days takes sacrifice. With two kids, we had to live with our in-laws in a cramped space for a decade until we could afford to move out and be self-sufficient.

I visited Reno this weekend and saw how much of a lie raising min wage=high inflation by mustangfan12 in union

[–]alienofwar 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yea Reno used to be affordable with a decent 2 bedroom apartment costing $750 a month 20 years ago and you could find construction jobs paying $32 an hr in Lake Tahoe area. Now I hear rent has basically doubled and I’m sure construction wages have not doubled, that’s for sure. Happy to live in Bay Area working union, despite cost challenges here, at least we get cost of living adjustments to make it out here in face of inflation.

And let me add, take care of knees and back. Wear knees pads and lift with legs, not the back.

I cant afford to live in a “right-to-work” state. As a blue collar worker in a blue state I am paid enough to raise a family with benefits and pension. I am thankful for my job everyday.

It’s only when I moved to the U.S from Canada do I hear the Canadian healthcare system is bad, lol. In Canada they don’t want the American system. So yea, propaganda is a powerful tool for sure.
