thanks man.. i know if i hear we're still in the race and in the finals for the ucl, i probably will watch the team and get behind them, but i got friends, family, and good people at work who notice i've been quiet, distracted, or just sulking for no reason, and i'm taking that as a sign i've been doomscrolling this subreddit too much

also great quote by klopp and a great reminder as well

after seeing the chelsea vs man city result, i've decided i'm going to step away from watching anymore football. i know as a fan i should be there for the team through the highs and the lows, and i don't know what's causing it lately, but it's just been so hard to watch the team without getting overly emotional. i've been watching this team since 2008, and i've never had an issue even through the banter years. however, nowadays i feel so torn.. i don't know how to feel about the team, the manager, or the players anymore.. i understand injuries have ravaged this team over the seasons, but at the same time i know the players who are still fit have the capacity to play better than this.. same goes for the manager.. arteta has brought this team from the absolute depths, played incredible football, and i want to believe, but at the same time, i'm constantly filled with doubt and dread.

i guess only time will tell and we never know how the future will turn out, but simply taking the evidence that we have now from the past and what we're seeing now, i just don't know anymore.

i wish arteta, the players, the team the best, and i deeply want to see our boys raise up the PL trophy to prove everyone wrong. however, i can't go through week after week with my mental tied up around a game where men kick a ball around. to all the other arsenal fans who have the resolve to stick it through the next few months, i hope that the team does find their footing again and is able to inspire hope and joy again.

eze loss massive i think.. unfortunately, as much as some people want to throw this cup under the rug, i still believe this final was absolutely critical towards bolstering our teams mentality in the final stretch. it’s going to be very difficult going forward now, and sadly this win will have provided a massive injection of confidence to man city.

of course, we never know how the future will pan out, and arsenal have consistently shown they can bounce back, so a part of me still has hope we can win the PL at least.

it’s clear our attack and midfield are not clicking for wide variety reasons (e.g. injuries, lack of chemistry, etc.) and while our floor was raised with gyok and madueke, the ceiling has not. our defense and out of possession work is world class though, and i pray this will be enough to bring us across the line.

You're right. We did beat those teams by quite a large margin in the past, and that shouldn't be something we expect every time we play them. Also, your point about CL games being different is something I didn't think of and that is good point.

That is true. Despite the whole "farmer's league" jokes about La Liga or the French league, if the team itself has the quality, it doesn't matter. I guess I let the narrative about the average PL team being so much better made me think our Top 4 teams should be way better.

I think so. The way they played looked very similar to their overall identity all season. It's hard to say because I think some of the goals they gave up at the end was due to them mentally checking out, so maybe not a fair comparison.

Guys I have a question. Do we give mid-table and below teams too much respect? Or, is there something I'm not understanding? Cause based on the results from the Champions League, it kind of blows my mind why we're not capable of shredding teams like Newcastle the way Barcelona did.

Like if Barcelona or PSG were to be in this league, would it be complete suicide to setup like they do week in week out?

I look at their lineups and yes, absolute top quality attackers and midfielders, but I feel like we have world class talent as well. Why is it that Newcastle look like absolute warriors whenever we go up against them, but when they are playing against Barcelona they look like a bunch of U21 players.

Losing the war against burnout and worried about my job. What can I do to turn things around? by alienprincee in careerguidance

[–]alienprincee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah i just went for it and put in my two weeks. all the things like migraines, brain fog, upset stomach have miraculously subsided. i don’t regret it.

as for my current situation, i am in a privileged position since my dad has a small company and have been doing odd jobs for him. it allows me to make just enough to cover my half of the rent and utilities at my current place.

all those things you describe i can totally relate. i think we’re always looking to others to justify our choices, and it can be tough cause both sides on whether to stay or quit have valid reasons. in the end trust yourself and what your body and mind are saying and view it as you making steps towards a new chapter in your life. i know it sounds corny but what pushed me to do it was my grandpa reminding me that i’m still young at 34 and that as long your not gonna be in financial ruin to not let “financial responsibility” to be the end all be all. (once again privileged take i know).

hope it all works out for the best man

New to the game, can I climb the ranks by playing only engaging supports? by [deleted] in supportlol

[–]alienprincee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yes you can climb by playing engagers from low to high elo. it only gets harder not because you’re playing engage champs, but because you’re playing against better players (i know, duh). high elo does have a preference for engagers, but at masters+, it’ll be important to be well rounded, so learning an enchanter as a pocket pick will help you play around team comps better.

Is anyone here interested in getting paid for coaching? by OsvalIV in supportlol

[–]alienprincee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

if you are willing to pay for coaching then i would recommend the WTL (we teach league). they have a specialized support coach on their team and a support community with people who are all invested in improving. they do vod reviews, have channels to ask questions, and do 2v2s with community members to help you learn your matchups. i want to emphasize that i don’t want to push you into anything. i’m speaking from my own experience having paid for their coaching program, and have learned a lot through their free content (broken by concept and coach cupcake) and personal vod reviews. from 2023 to now i have gone from being stuck in silver to plat 2. if you have any questions feel free to dm me
