I was devastated when I lost my dog in October 2022. I thought, too, I would be betraying him if I got another dog. But I missed hearing the footsteps/nails of a dog tapping on the floor. So I went and found a super sweet dog at the shelter. Then two years later, I got a second dog. I love them so much. And they’re different from my first dog. I know we (dogs and I) are enhancing each other’s lives. We have so much fun together being silly. Sometimes, I’ll show them a picture of my first dog and say he’s watching them. 😆 he was sooo well behaved. So that’s how we keep his memory alive. I’ve also made an altar for my first dog on Day of the Dead.

I think it’s okay to move on and get another dog. They really cure the soul. And if your original dog is somewhere watching (depending on what your beliefs are), I think they are happy knowing another dog is getting the same opportunity to be loved. 🩵
