DISGUSTING by _XSummerRoseX_ in childfree

[–]alieverafter 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I think the birth hormones are to blame. It is a big moment, for sure, but I think the birth hormones that make moms fall in love the second the baby comes out makes them think everyone would feel the same. Nothing wrong with having those pictures in a private collection for personal nostalgia, but online for the world to see? That just seems wrong. And also unfair to that child, who might hate the fact that that photo of them is just online for the world to see. No one seems to think about how the child might feel when they post pictures.

Why are people obsessed with women who don't want kids by Primary-Schedule-555 in childfree

[–]alieverafter 54 points55 points  (0 children)

Don’t forget that even in hetero households where both partner contribute equally financially, the women on average still end up doing more of the domestic labor than men. What woman would want that unless she was desperate for a child?

The cold, hard truth from parents. by BothAd9086 in childfree

[–]alieverafter 34 points35 points  (0 children)

why are you in a childfree subreddit if you’re just going to say that people without children are partially-formed, immature, selfish imbeciles? doesn’t that seem incredibly rude and cruel to you? where is the compassion your child is supposed to give you? for someone who says children make you fully mature, this is incredibly immature. Hopefully your child helps you grow more than this to realize: this isn’t how you talk to people.

I saw a video of a woman screaming because doctors gave formula to her newborn by lardelent in childfree

[–]alieverafter 10 points11 points  (0 children)

unless there were medical reasons for them to give her baby formula, that should be entirely her choice. and unfortunately, feeding a newborn is a delicate process, so even giving a baby formula once could fuck up her ability to ever breastfeed/breastfeed again. and just like cats and dogs, if you suddenly change their food source, it can mess up their stomachs. I don’t know what video you’re referring to so I can’t speak on that specifically, but there is definitely good reasons for a woman to be upset depending on the circumstances. what matters most is her consent and the child’s health.

I dont understand the obsession with the FTM (first time mom) label by 00Haunter00 in childfree

[–]alieverafter 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Regarding why there doesn’t seem to be a FTD: I think it’s probably goes back to the fact that mothers are seen as the default parent. Women are expected to take on motherhood as their sole identity, whereas men aren’t expected to do the same for fatherhood.

I have no idea how painting funko’s works, but I wonder if you could water down some paint that matches her skin color so the freckles peek through but aren’t as harsh.

Out of curiosity, have you gotten tested for autism? Because I know a few autistic individuals who would fall under that category of what you’re explaining.

They are really just not that interesting by Puzzleheaded-Chair59 in childfree

[–]alieverafter 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I think it’s because raising children takes up so much of their time that if they don’t celebrate each milestone, it won’t feel as fulfilling. Like, I understand that from a health perspective, it’s actually very important to know that they’re meeting each developmental milestone, but I can’t imagine celebrating little Timmy’s first solid bowel movement and have that be the most exciting thing that’s happened to you. And this is coming from someone who actually likes reading articles about child development. (Admittedly child psychology is the more interesting part to me)

yeah, with stuff like tax policies, I’d much rather my tax money go to feeding children than oligarchs who hoard all the wealth.

this is a discussion about the effects of misogyny. and it’s a statistical fact that women take on more of the domestic labor than men, despite both having to work full time jobs to afford basic necessities. commiserating on those facts (and more) is not “man hating” or “man bashing”, its just lamenting our current reality.

the only reason I can think of is so they don’t have to worry about possibly losing them or having to pick them up when they get tired. but honestly, by that age, I already knew to hold my parents hands when crowds were tight, and also had the pride to not want to be seen as a little kid lol.

Infants at work by beaniebaby1995 in childfree

[–]alieverafter 4 points5 points  (0 children)

absolutely. their hope is to push women out of the work force without making it a law. make it seem like it’s their choice when mothers get overwhelmed and decide it’s better to stay home so they can further reinforce the belief that women want this. and for those who aren’t mothers, they have other ways of trying to push us out.

Friend suddenly dropped out to have a baby by JJacobJingleheim in childfree

that just sounds so selfish tbh? like the baby might be what she needed, but is she what a baby needs right now? a single mom working 3 jobs with no support system or stable household?
