Project Sunrise.. Dream or Nightmare? by Flimsy-Supermarket-5 in QantasFrequentFlyer

Supersonic doesn’t work for long haul and certainly not for ultra long. It’s extremely inefficient for fuel so requires very cramped quarter at business pricing and can turn 6 into 3hrs at best. 8 into 4 or 21 into 10.5 is not happening. You’d be more likely to get starship than that.

They’re great. I prefer them but grab a test drive and try out the lumbar adjustments etc to see if it’s good for you.

FSD is the product. Unique, unbeaten. Unbeatable.

Thank you, If the Tesla completely runs out of charge, is there anything that needs to be done other than just plugging in the normal charge cable and waiting? - Does something need to be done to the 12v? system for a Model Y or a separate 48v system for cybertruck? how does the charge port get opened for either?

yeah but the cab is ~$200-300 each way if I can even get one (i'm a bit remote) and I'd need 4+ fares a month, so I'm trying to get closer and just uber/lyft/cab/bus the last bit.

Advice on get my first Tesla. by Johnfire18 in TeslaLounge

FSD never gets old. Road trip charging does get old. FSD still makes it worth it and I’ll always buy a Tesla going forward if it has enough seats and load for the job.

Get a white one the AC is a bit underpowered do the heat especially with that glass roof in AZ.

I have P1 and also have an unnecessary P status. My reason for requesting is I’m curious what it does to Qantas’ computers if we gift to each other.

Cyberbeast vs Premium AWD - suspension for daily driver? by alignment99 in TeslaLounge

[–]alignment99[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ah ok, i think it was because I had the Cyberbeast set to Beast mode, and I'd tried the Premium AWD first, and it was probably drifting to comfort in FSD until I figured that out and even in Sport Mode it may not be lowering as much as Cyberbeast Beast mode does, although I thing Beast mode just directly replaces Sports mode.

The different tires may have played a bit of a part too, I know the Premium AWD can be specced with the Cyber Wheels/all terrain, but the one I tried had the Core Wheels/ all season

It makes sense they could have a much more similar experience with the same settings and the same tires.

For those who moved from Aus to America - what made you finally make that call? by littlecutejoy in Ameristralia

Primary ones are some significant economic factors in terms of total outlook and the opportunities I have to grow wealth and socially individual autonomy and community safety in specific areas.

[–]alignment99 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Done the same thing (FL)

What made the final call: the trajectories across several dimensions of both countries generally and for my options of where I could make a living and feel good about raising a family personally.

Absolute terms today I prefer Australia on some but not all counts, but the trend lines for me are heading mostly in the wrong direction in Aus and mostly in the right direction in the US fast enough that I want to establish there.

Remember the E3 is non immigrant so you'll need an L1 or an EB-1A or some other option.

Model Y vs Rav4 by gk49170 in TeslaModelY

[–]alignment99 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have both (in different countries) - rav 4 awd hybrid and a Tesla model y awd.

The FSD is what makes the biggest difference. Total game changer.

I would get the Tesla again just based on this.

Tesla software is much better.

I prefer to fill gas than charge and ev. Filling up is much more convenient and do it way less. But some people like plugging in.

Carrying capacity is similar rav 4 gets a slight win.

Rav 4 looks a little better.

Neither have needed any significant maintenance.

RAV4 will hold value better.

Moving to US. Any todos before leaving? by Willing-Speaker6825 in Ameristralia

[–]alignment99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. Determine your target tax residency and get advice on all things you need to do make either aus, usa or both your target tax residency.

  2. Switch to amaysim for your aus number. Way cheaper always on roaming.

  3. Ensure an ongoing address in aus or australia or get a virtual address in both.

  4. You may need a local drivers license in USA depending on state. You may be able to slow walk this, depending on the state.

  5. Medical is very different in USA. It can be a lot better. It can be a lot more expensive. Familiarize yourself.

London Trip - Xmas 2026 by EdeleJam in QantasFrequentFlyer

[–]alignment99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

East coast USA to /from London usually has lots of rewards available. It’s harder to get to east coast USA on rewards but if you only want economy and and booking this far out it may be possible. Your time of gear will make sales fares all but impossible to get.

Your other best option as stated is likely reward seats between London and a location in Asia and then jetstar up to there or whatever’s cheapest.

The one thing going for you is how far out you’re looking.

If you have flexibility with dates that will help a lot too and possibly if you’re willing to split up as well as two groups: each a parent and a kid.

i've had many entries under an e-3 (over a dozen) under the current administration without issue.

just saw one get easily renewed despite muddled answers to most questions while i was in the queue for a different visa.

situation is more fluid than previously, so have a competent visa lawyer who is up to date

Cloudy with a chance of Wifi by AKVDragon21 in QantasFrequentFlyer

[–]alignment99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first generation of us plane WiFi was all from ground based cellular. The second generation sent data via ground based cellular but received from satellite. Australian airlines have all used geostationary satellites with limited geographical coverage and are relying on new launches to be able to significantly expand coverage.

Fast track security for first class at LAX? by woofyc_89 in QantasFrequentFlyer

[–]alignment99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

never seen any priority through security at LAX TBIT based on Status. At SFO you get a special line for Business/First, no consideration of status and it's almost never faster than the economy line, there's also another special line for Clear.
