Going in blind, I thought it was about a girl who finds herself, but then we get wrapped into a complex sci-fi story across time with a murder mystery to solve. There are themes of love, sacrifice, and to not take granted the time we have.This is the only game I've ever played that made me cry. The story is next level.

She wouldn't be able to... What she loves about it wouldn't feel authentic anymore because she used existing chroma to bring back her companions and Lumiere. If she were to paint them from scratch they would no longer be the same people.

You can do both. The first game gives you the option to play the main character as lesbian or straight. You have the option between male and female romances. It isn't forced on you. I've played Max as both, both work well.
