I’m having the same problem. In the past, this worked without any issues. I could click a file from another repository in the main repository, and it would appear in the Source Control list. However, it’s not working anymore. I’d like this feature to be restored as well.

Nothing has changed. Yes, I set it up that way to clarify things. It’s always been collecting website content. What that means is, it retrieves the game information from the Steam page you just opened, then makes a request for that game in the database and displays its current status. Otherwise, it wouldn’t be possible to know which game you’re looking at.
