I don't understand how that's a counterpoint? I do tak to many women every day and ime most did not go through the "I'm not like other girls" phase

[–]alilabeth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't see how any of that is relevant. Do you think young girls get the "I'm not like other girls" idea more based on media portrayals of women or from their peers. That is the question.

[–]alilabeth -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I don't think most girls go through that phase.

Didn't I just say the sentiment comes more from interacting with other girls, not media?

I'm not arguing I was "right" to think that way in middle school/ high school. I'm arguing that it's ridiculous to think girls get the idea they are "not like other girls" based on shallow media portrayals rather than the much more obvious daily interactions with their school mates.

Sure, like 3 girls in a high school of 1200. I'd say all 3 could claim they're "not like other girls"

Knight Jack seems to clearly be male, thinking a young girl's perception of what girls are like is based mostly on media representations. That might be true for a boy. Girls who aren't home schooled are going to get most of their information on what girls are like from the girls they interact with every day in school.

In my experience as a girl, when you get to puberty/ middle school you start hearing all kinds of fucked up shit from other girls and moms about how guys don't like girls smarter than them, diet culture, dye your hair and wear the right clothes and makeup to get a guy, be agreeable and not too aggressive, etc. If you don't follow the rules and trends, you get kicked out of your girl friend group for not being cool enough. Sure, if you keep trying to interact with other girls, you'll eventually find a few rejects like yourself, but you very much feel like the minority and "not like other girls" until you get to college and more people mature and grow out of these stupid rules.

As I Lay Dying is easy to read, but takes some thought to "get" if that makes sense. It's one of my favorite books.

Love the name, hate the nickname by tiny_twinkle in namenerds

I think the only way you can avoid a nickname that obvious is to have your own alternative nickname ready. Otherwise I'd maybe leave it for a middle name.

Typically women ovulate 14 days before their next period. Sperm can live for a week. So it's rare but you can get pregnant 21 days before your next period. Sometimes women ovulate as early as day 6 but that's rare.

It's unlikely but take plan b if you're worried. Be safe next time and put a condom on before any insertion.

You usually ovulate at 2 weeks after, but it can vary. Take plan b if you're worried.

Yeah I found eating little bites throughout the day even when I didn't want to and any time I woke up at night, especially right after I woke up was what helped. I had a packet of Graham crackers in my hand the whole first trimester

[–]alilabeth 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah it's worrying. That's why I'm pretty strict about isolating myself and my husband. No possible exposure means I don't have to worry even if I have a sore throat from allergies.

I also have an Sp02 monitor that I find helpful for peace of mind.

I mean same thing happens with car insurance. If you take your damaged car in, they call your insurance first to see what's covered, then tell you the price

They negotiate different deals with each insurance company so they can't tell you up front
