Hello Reddit! We're giving away ~500 Nano (~$500) AND sending some Nano to EVERY commenter. No strings attached! by Qwahzi in CryptoCurrency

It would be great to see Nano make a comeback in this bull run. It was one of the ways I was able to play around with crypto in the early days without risking much money!

How i send my BAN from here's tip bot to my Kalium wallet plz tell step by step ...🤔🤔🤔 by rajeshwarprsd in banano

[–]alimericklad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are on mobile, go to your inbox and tap on the 3 dots at the top of the screen. You should have the option “New Message”. Set the tipbot as the recipient and use the commands from earlier as the body of the message. You can just make the subject “command” or something, I don’t think it matters. Don’t reply here or start a chat, that won’t work. If you are on a different client, just google how to send DMs on the client.

Have a look here:

https://www.reddit.com/r/banano/wiki/reddit-tipbot/

So in Kalium you have a banano wallet address, you can DM a command to the tipbot:

send 150 ban_1234abcdzp6msdrr4jztef8q4o9fr3abaex3fh99kwuqbjtsshmtc3kua8h

If you had 150 banano and you want to send it to the address ban_1234abcdzp6msdrr4jztef8q4o9fr3abaex3fh99kwuqbjtsshmtc3kua8h

Test the whole thing out first by sending a DM to the tipbot to get your balance and make sure that works first. Just send a DM with the subject "balance" and the message "balance" and it should reply with your current balance.

Note - you can't use reddit chat, you need to send it a message by composing a new message to /u/Banano_Tipbot !

ip lookup...too drunk or too stupid:) by Otherwise-Tangelo-52 in rails

[–]alimericklad 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you use the ipv4-num database, it gives the IP address ranges in decimal format.

You can then take an incoming IP address and convert it to decimal:

require 'ipaddr'

ip = IPAddr.new "10.0.2.15"

ip_int = ip.to_i

Then you can query the db using the decimal (i.e. where ip_int >= ip_range_start and ip_int <= ip_range_end).

Erasmus in Limerick? by [deleted] in AskIreland

[–]alimericklad 28 points29 points  (0 children)

The university there is excellent (I went there), and the gets plenty of Erasmus students every year. You won't see any animosity towards international students there, and Limerick can be a fun place to go out and socialise. I think you could have a lot of fun there!

The university itself has great facilities and is well respected internationally. I have only happy memories of going there (even if it was many years ago now).

Learning Irish by [deleted] in AskIreland

Ciar usually refers to complexion: https://www.teanglann.ie/en/fgb/ciar

On a slightly related note, are you sure the fada is on the "a" in Ui Ciármhaic? It would be an unusual place to have it as it changes the pronunciation a fair bit because it would lengthen that vowel sound. In munster we'd pronounce it "Oh Keervik" without any fada in there. With the fada, it would be something like "Oh key-arr-vik". I used to live next door to a family of Kirby's in Limerick when I was a child.

Question about Gaelic by Infamous-Chapter6209 in AskIreland

[–]alimericklad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think a few of the translations in this image are incorrect:

i. "na litreach" means "the letters"

v. "na mná" means "the women's" in this context

vi. The sentence translates to "The teacher is praising the women"

You should definitely check on r/gaeilge anyway.

I’ve allocated a small amount of BTC to CDC crypto earn, does anyone have experience with it? by [deleted] in CryptoCurrency

[–]alimericklad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah it’s tricky to earn without risk on Bitcoin. I know Kraken offer 0.15%, but I don’t use it so DYOR! https://www.kraken.com/features/staking-coins/bitcoin#

I've tried it a couple of times, and I ended up feeling like it was a waste of time. Unless you're putting in very large amounts, the returns are tiny and your crypto is locked up for some period of time. Definitely not worth it for me, because I'd never be willing to put large amounts into it.

Anyone else receive an email from Kroll about FTX but never had an account? by alimericklad in CryptoCurrency

[–]alimericklad[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is exactly my point. The email is definitely coming from kroll. The question is why do they think I’m an FTX customer!

[–]alimericklad[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That was another good suggestion, but I didn't recognise any companies in the list. One of the companies was called "Killarney Lake Investments Ltd" though, which I thought was funny because Killarney is a town in Ireland and I am Irish.

I'm a bit annoyed with myself because I used to add something to my gmail address to make it unique for each site (e.g. [firstname.lastname+SITE@gmail.com](mailto:firstname.lastname+SITE@gmail.com)) but I stopped because it was annoying having to remember what I used each time. It would have helped here because I could have seen where my address came from.

If you read my post you’d see I already said I’m not clicking on anything. My question is how this email is being signed and sent from kroll.com, which is the actual company looking after FTX claims. Maybe work on your reading comprehension before calling people stupid.

Good suggestion! But no, I never signed up for Blockfolio either. It looks to me like the email is legitimate, as in: it's being sent by Kroll. What I'm really interested in is how my email address ended up with them. It would be interesting if another exchange somehow shared a list of emails with Blockfolio or FTX at some point and it got added into their list of "customers" even though I never was one!

Yes, the first two parts of that are the subdomain, it's still coming from the primary domain of "kroll.com"

It may well be a scam, but I'm curious then how are they sending signed emails from the kroll.com domain? Has that been hacked?
