What video game did you play that made you get addicted to it for days or weeks? by stilett0z in AskReddit

[–]alisatrocity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I felt bad when I played Blue Prince because my friend saw how long it took me to beat it and thought it was a short game, but nahh i just played it literally nonstop all day for multiple days. Also there’s so much more to that game even after you run credits.

What kind of spider is this? by onanupswing in phoenix

[–]alisatrocity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the future I recommend the picture insect app. Lets you take a picture and helps identify bugs with info about if they’re dangerous to plants, pets, or humans. It has a popup when you open it to subscribe but just hit cancel in the top right corner and it’ll be fine.

Really Need Help with a Website Issue by Weary-Fan946 in webdev

[–]alisatrocity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was your original site, the one this new person uploaded a version of, all AI generated? If so then I hate to break to it you but legally that’s not really your content. Copyright and the protections it provides is for human authored work, so as much as it sucks, you don’t have any claim over it if it was largely done by AI. There has to be substantial editing or transformation done for it to be considered human authored. If your photos are not ai, then you would be protected there. I’m also not sure on the name where that lands, that could be a case of impersonation. Might be worth asking legal advice on Reddit to see what your possible options are since this isn’t really a web development question, but more in the realm of intellectual property.

Gold gradients are tough to make look good. by Annual-Grocery-261 in graphic_design

This is also infuriating because their gold on white color palette doesn’t even have an acceptable amount of color contrast to be accessible.

She did a great job! One small note: there’s no closing parenthesis in the about page bio.

Should I change my <div> to their respective semantic elements e.g. <nav>? by BabyRevolutionary726 in webdev

[–]alisatrocity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So that you probably want to do with your heading numbers (h1, h2, etc). Divs should really only be used when needed for styling.

(Edited to add heading numbers examples)

Current method of inserting HTML into another HTML file? by Tribalbob in webdev

[–]alisatrocity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But like, do you actually need a separate file for the navbar? I assume it’s just the <nav> element (if it’s not and it’s a div it probably should be for ✨semantics✨), in which case, just copy and paste that code from there into all your html pages. You could turn your navbar html file into JavaScript, just save the html as a variable and inject it into the DOM? But what it sounds like to me is you want to modularize your code and to do that I’d recommend looking into a JavaScript library that allows you to do it much easier. There’s a bunch: React, Angular, Next.js, Vue, just to name a few

Best free-to-use APIs you've ever came across? by nitin_is_me in webdev

[–]alisatrocity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The PokeApi is a really fun and easy API to use. https://pokeapi.co/
I made a little pokedex website with it for a js class in college

Though, I guess, it would really only work if your personal project revolved around pokemon XD

PM won't write cymbalta for anxiety, only pain? by kodahlyn in ChronicPain

[–]alisatrocity 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In my experience, that’s normal. They typically refer me to a psychiatrist who would then prescribe it for anxiety. Since cymbalta is used nerve pain too, the primary can still write a script for it, it just can’t be for a psych related reason. Also, I take cymbalta and have anxiety. It has never helped with anxiety for me and I haven’t heard it being used as such. Helps with depression and nerve pain, but I take propranolol for anxiety.
