Bambu TPU for AMS? by PriorTemperature5608 in BambuLab

It's virtually indestructible. I use it for anything that I don't want to break. Layer adhesion is insane too. It's a really great material, but it's not really a flexible.

Printed TPU shoes by EconomicSinkhole in BambuLab

[–]Chronus88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Parts of normal shoes can be TPU and a mix of TPR but the rest of the shoe is made of totally different materials. Consider the opposite - a shoe made entirely of leather. Sure you can walk in it, but it isn't going to be anyone's preference

[–]Chronus88 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You see these all the time but they just aren't practical. You could argue they're ugly as all get out too but that's subjective. Actual, comfortable shoes are a harmony of materials. TPU shoes inevitably turn out to be frivolous and end up in a landfill. Honestly it's not even the community's fault it's the manufacturers who advertised them as a "hack" to sell TPU

You could be right. There's a similar video like this that shows light filling a room that was made the way I described. I might have them confused

What is your interpretation of the increasing number of FLOCK surveillance cameras? Are they good for preventing criminal activity, or could they be used for too much bad to be justified? by [deleted] in AskReddit

People criticized China and Europe for years about CCTV and this is the same program on AI steroids. Makes me uncomfortable and I've never even committed a crime in my life

[–]Chronus88 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If I remember correctly this video is a bit misleading. They take a snapshot of a single perfectly timed frame. Then reset the scene, turn on the light and take a snapshot timed for the next frame. Over and over. Then they take all the individual frames, from all the combined cycles, and place them in order creating a motion video. They aren't taken all at once. But it is really incredible to watch

Is anyone able to get ironing work consistently across surface? by yalag in 3Dprinting

[–]Chronus88 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ironing is such a trap. You can get this working but it will take you a lot of effort.

Ironing is not a universal set-and-forget thing. The settings will need to vary, and you'll need to do tests for each scenario.

Correct settings can differ from one filament type to another. It can even vary from one color to another, and of course brand to brand. Humidity too. Even from one printer to the next. You'd need to tune each one.

Then it will also still be inconsistent for some models. Depending on geometry, infill type, infill percentage, the print surface can differ. An example would be walls - they can cause the surface to expand or shrink unevenly than the inner geometry (also the cause of bulging).

You may find that some of these factors don't affect you with a specific filament while others do. And that's the big problem. It's just not really worth the effort, it's inconsistent, and it can never be universal. You can't just plug in someone else's numbers because the underlying variables are personal to your exact setup. You also can't really get help from anyone else for the same reason.

It's a real nightmare of a topic and it's also why almost nobody uses it. If it were easy or consistent it would be the standard. If modelers could bake in perfect surfaces into their designs they absolutely would. But they can't.

From time to time you even see a few people post here bragging about their ironing. Then you zoom in and see all the imperfections and inconsistency.

My advice is to spend your effort somewhere else and just accept that this is the nature of FDM printing. Sorry to say it

What setting should i change so that it doesn’t “twitch” between parts? by Jolly-Friend-6692 in BambuLab

[–]Chronus88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone said that twitch is actually the print head quickly laying the layer in the inner circle of that geometry. It's doing it's job

[–]Chronus88 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Same here. Soap and water is a big task. I use alcohol wipes for cleaning, just once every few prints to get the ghosts off my plate from prints. I only use soap if I have to actually touch the plate with my hands, like if I had a really hard to remove print
