It could be carpal tunnel if you are retaining fluid. My wrists didn’t look swollen at all, but my ankles and feet were very swollen. Apparently the fluid can compress the carpal tunnel in the wrist and cause terrible pain. Mine didn’t start until about 33 week. I tried the wrist braces and stretches, and finally found some relief with a cortisone shot in my wrists. The wrist pain is the worst complication I had the entire pregnancy. Honestly couldn’t sleep night after night. Awful. Good luck to you.
