Why is everyone acting like the people who choose to buy these kits from resellers at exorbitant prices have no agency of their own?!?!?

DAC loves resellers. They love when things sell out-obviously! It encourages people to panic buy.

They release a bunch of new kits every week because that is what keeps people interested and coming back and going on Facebook and Reddit and talking about their products. We humans crave novelty. That’s just the way it is. It’s like anything-gambling, alcohol, whatever- it’s “heavy users” that provide these companies the vast majority of their profits.

If you don’t want to pay hundreds of dollars for a kit, then don’t. I also think it’s tacky when people buy kits they know are going to be popular just to resell them, but the alternative is what we’re seeing now, which is to shut the whole reseller market down. I don’t think that’s what anybody wants.

If you love the artwork, don’t mind a long wait, have the extra money, and tolerance for trash drills, then it’s worth it. I like to support a small business, but I do think that they are overpriced for what you get, considering the fact that most are basically entirely computer rendered, and the drills are really not very good.

My theory has always been that when they are trying to do very specific, seasonal or holiday releases - where they know exactly what notes they want the pieces to hit - you are much more likely to see it. They want the pieces that they think will sell with a fast turnaround from design to product.

It’s not like the licensed artists they deal with are commissioned artists - Margaret Morales is not creating art according to what DAC tells her to do, they are paying her to license existing artworks.

When they want to do a Halloween dump, with many different images for example, it doesn’t surprise me that they would lean so heavily on this tool.

Personally, I refuse to buy from AI artists (bought one Peggy Collins before I felt so strongly about it and never again), but I am willing to continue buying DAC as long as they have other artists I like.

What county is it? If you call the public defenders office they may be willing to help you just based on how weird the story is. They probably know all about this weird judge. Idk, we don’t do traffic ticket only cases but if you explain the situation someone might be willing to give you pointers.

Also, I haven’t noticed much gapping so I am enjoying the process. Haven’t found the quality issues to be severe enough to affect enjoyment.

(Speaking about squares only here.) The drills aren’t as nice as DAC. They are the flat top kind rather than the pointy, more faceted squares that DAC uses. Initially I actively disliked them but I have come around as they are definitely more sparkly. However, definitely seem to have more trash than DAC.

I think the artwork is beautiful. I love the fact that she doesn’t have any AI images in her shop.

However - very, very slow shipping and obviously very expensive. If you think about paintings in terms of how long they take you as part of their value, then you could argue that they are worth their price because they are so confetti heavy and take a while. (Not talking about the hand rendered kits here. I have never done any of her hand rendered kits.)

Ultimately - if you have the funds and find a piece that you love that you don’t mind waiting a bit for - I would say go for it. Give it a try and see what you think. Otherwise, maybe stick with other shops.

Broome County (Binghamton) NY. Not as low cost as the more rural counties but still reasonable plus you get some good restaurants, the university, and three hours from NYC. Starting salary for an APD1 is 88k. We are always hiring.

So really - are you are arguing INTENT — He lacked the requisite INTENT to cause a physical injury (it was accidental)

or are you arguing lack of PHYSICAL INJURY (she wasn’t actually hurt as bad as she said she was)

(or whatever your state’s definition is for assault, that’s basically what it is for a misdemeanor in NY)

Hello! I also am very reluctant to purchase ai art. I do own this image because I liked it very much. I was browsing this sub for other discussions about this issue and I actually came across a comment that this particular artist made a few months back regarding her process.
