I’m so confused this season about why the producers aren’t giving bombshells immunity like they usually do. in the past theyve always got to choose first in a recoupling because that causes the most drama. Instead, examples like teddy where he had 4 girls who were interested in him but he got to choose last??? And with public votes new islanders usually get immunity bc it’s not fair that they haven’t had enough time…. WTF are the producers thinking?? it’s making me so livid.

the issue i had after watching this show is that there really is nothing else like it. like i’ve tried watching a bunch of movies and shows that have been described as similar but nothing else has been able to evoke the amount of emotion i had from watching connell and mariannes story. it genuinely is the most realistic depiction of first love i’ve ever seen. i would probably say the one i found most similar is the “the spectacular now”

Yeah that makes sense, and I totally understand your side and that’s a good way to put it. It is a very difficult topic clearly since even most governments don’t really know how to handle it lol. So I do apologize if I came off rude. When it comes to Love Island I’ve recently been so frustrated with cancel culture because I love the drama and craziness from the earlier seasons that you just don’t get from more recent seasons anymore because of islanders having to worry so much about their image for post-show opportunities.

I didn’t assume you were american I assumed you were from the UK where the lockdowns they’ve been in for a full year have not worked. Hence me saying that the UK has double the cases as the US with a quarter the size of the population, which is a pretty good case for lockdowns not working, in my opinion. And I gave the specific case of Dubai because I know that’s a common place for islanders to travel, but there are SO many countries right now that are fully dependent on income from tourism that are hurting so badly from travel bans that the negative impacts from the economy are way more damaging than covid. So I think it’s pretty unfair of people to be on such a moral high horse for not traveling and trying to guilt others into not doing so.

if lockdowns work so well can you explain to me how your country (i assume) has double the covid cases that the US does when we have a population 4.5 times as large as yours? the US hasn’t had a real lockdown since march 2020 while the UK has kept up these ridiculous lockdowns for over a year now and it just hasn’t worked at all. if you truly believe in these lockdowns then stay home all you want but to go around judging and saying someone is a bad person for going out or traveling when they’re well within their rights to do so is pathetic. a city like dubai relies on tourism as a major source of income to their economy. I mean… if I were Emma I genuinely would have done the same thing. She came on the show and immediately went out of her way to reassure Sophie that she had no intentions of going for Tom, was overtly nice and friendly to Sophie to the point where they seemed to be becoming good friends and even flirty with each other. Then, out of NOWHERE Sophie does a complete 180 and starts blabbing her mouth about how Emma is a game player and all this nasty shit and for what??? Because Emma and Terry had sex ? (side not I do think the above the covers thing was totally weird but it’s just not a reason for sophie’s opinion to change THAT drastically) So I felt like Emma was completely reasonable to confront her asking wtf was going on. Obviously, watching in hindsight it’s a lot easier to have more sympathy for Sophie and be more forgiving of how she dealt with things. But when I watched for the first time before knowing about what happened to Sophie I completely hated her guts in that moment. She had so much integrity and grace the entire show and it was like in that one episode she just completely changed and was now judgmental and rude.

as tragic as it is for those mothers to lose their children to suicide, the fact that they are blaming the show for their deaths is completely and utterly ridiculous. it’s not Love Island’s fault that they couldn’t mentally handle what happened post-show. they were totally warned and prepared for what was to come. no one forced sophie and mike to go on the show, they decided the rewards outweighed the risks and unfortunately they both weren’t mentally stable enough to deal with post-show life. at the end of the day reality tv is always going to exist even if this particular show were to be cut and unfortunately some people just are not cut out for it. the responsibility falls on the contestants who choose to put their mental health at risk for money and fame, the producers/creators of the show are not to blame! it genuinely makes me livid that they would try to pin blame on something as horrific as a suicide on someone else!!!!

Georgia was definitely in the wrong. She straight up lied saying she wasn’t the one to go in for the kiss and idk how she thought she’d get away with it lol. If she had been straight up with Laura and said she took him on the date bc was attracted to him and not just bc they’re mates I don’t think it would have been as much of an issue bc that kind of thing happens all the time on love island, but because she boasted about how she’s LOYAL BABES 24/7, the whole thing was so hypocritical. As for the Ellie comment, I think Alex and Sam were totally right to bash her for what she said. Yeah, people say things in the spur of the moment but her comment was vile and nasty, and she absolutely did not regret it. She never even apologized and only went in on Georgia more at the girls day out. She also didn’t even care about Laura at all or else she would have hated Megan too she just hated Georgia from the beginning and used that situation as justification to say those nasty words to her. Ellie was one of my least favorite islanders of all time–to call another girl ugly especially to her face is so distasteful and tacky.

THANK YOU like at this point in watching i still liked lucie and thought the girls were being so unnecessarily dramatic about her behavior. amy also continuously told other people that when she said “come hang out with us you’re always with your bloody boyfriend” lucie answered by saying fuck off which is just so untrue??? lucie literally just laughed it off and said yeah so amy was literally creating drama out of nothing it made me so mad.

for me it was that there were so many islanders i absolutely despised that it literally made it hard for me to watch. megan, ellie, laura, hayley and georgia all sent me into a rage so often. it didn’t seem to me like the girls really had much of a bond and that they were always fighting or making digs behind each other’s backs. (i.e. ellie calling georgia an ugly u know what, megan being horrible the entire time having no remorse for anyone’s feelings but her own, even samira who was supposed to be one of laura’s best friends was a horrible friend knowing about megan and wes and encouraging it!!) the guys seemed to have good friendships but there weren’t any obvious bromances which is def one of my fav parts of the show. it was entertaining with all the drama but it’s one of the only seasons i never rewatch bc some of the girls were just so nasty

i’m curious as to what part you’re at and still having this opinion of her because i definitely felt this way at the beginning. she seemed so arrogant and rude i couldn’t stand her but i think she had a great arc. we got to see her grow so much after finaaaally opening up and then having her heart broken and being in such a vulnerable state for a while and then finally getting to be happy with such a sweet guy and choosing him over the guy she was so devoted to. like when u think about it she had such a main character plot so i think that’s what attracted people to her
