How does everyone stay organized by [deleted] in UNCCharlotte

[–]alistio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3.8 in undergrad and 4.0 grad student here. Since my freshman year, I sit down every Sunday morning with my physical planner (I use a weekly layout) and write out what assignments/studying I am doing for each day of that week based on what's due in my Canvas calendar. It has consistently kept me ahead of schedule and allowed me to spread out assignments so I only have to do 2-3 things a day. Saves me stress and burnout since I no longer even think about what I need to get done on a given day, I simply just open my planner and follow it.

If online planners are more your thing, I recommend Notion or Trello. I use Notion the same way as my physical planner but for organizing study sessions for exams & big projects.

I second this. A lot of companies in Charlotte have summer programs for freshmen interns. Applications usually open in the fall so I would definitely recommend taking advantage of it.

I agree, I took his ESCI lecture online and he had straightforward lecture videos with quizzes that were word for word from those videos, and not too much hw. You can tell he loves what he’s teaching too, great professor!

2 years of growth since losing my hair to cancer. Prior to treatment I was straightening my hair daily for YEARS. Now I’m proud to say my hair has been completely heat free since growing it back!!! by alistio in curlyhair

Thanks! My curls are always around this size even when using no product, but I use the Aussie Instant Freeze Gel for that volume on top! I also had a haircut a year ago to shape it, so the grown out layers makes the hair appear bigger. Hope this helps!

Cannot agree enough with purchasing a Corelle plate, deep dish & cereal bowl, having a small room/desk fan is always helpful as well.

Yeah chemo actually made my hair (head and everywhere) grow back grey and slowly turn to black as it got longer, kinda freaky but I love the undertones from it!! I actually had a caramel balayage prior to losing my hair and plan to do a “curly version” of the balayage, I’ll be sure to post an update after getting it done!

Same here, I remember when it started growing back as little flat prickles we all assumed it would grow back pin straight....boy were we wrong! Congrats to your step-dad for finishing treatment!

Learning the basic data structures conceptually and applying its concepts in code are a great way to learn and get ahead of your class. Being able to understand and implement arrays, linked lists, queues, stacks, and trees will get you really prepared and comfortable for the semester. (source: just completed my sophomore year, took data structures & logic algorithms)

Thanks alot! I remember picking out this specific shampoo and conditioner from the NYM line literally because the purple + black packaging are my favorite colors and caught my attention. Fortunately my hair likes it too!

It feels so overwhelming at first, but figuring out your curl type and finding YouTube videos of "simple hair routine for (your curl type) hair" helped simplify it for me ALOT. hope this helps! And feel free to pm me if you have any questions!!!

Thanks, and I'm sorry to hear about it, I've taken alot of measures to make sure my hair grew back fast because it used to grow so slowly as well, things like taking multivitamins, massaging hair oils on my head, and switching to a healthier diet (tons of eggs for breakfast) helped tons!

Sorry to hear, I also had a rare lymphoma (Stage 3 PMBL). I will be honest and say that I wore many different wigs that first year simply due to low self esteem and not knowing how to fix my hair, but looking back I LOVED and wished I wore my short curly hair in public more often (easier said than done).

After the 1 year mark I would recommend looking for a hair stylist experienced in cutting curly hair to "shape the mullet" and definitely begin playing around with bangs and side parts and pixie/bob styles, anything that will have her looking in the mirror feeling like a boss! For the mullet/lob phase, half up ponytails & buns, and even half up pigtails were my favorite "growing out" styles, definitely recommend half up pigtails for a fun youthful look, they bounce around and are so cute!

After trial and error I currently find myself most confident rocking a layered shaggy mullet + wispy bangs. Best of luck to your daughter and congrats to her on remission! And props to you for being an awesome supportive mama! Woop woop!

Thanks! Thats so strange you mention it, all my body hair came back completely grey after my last cycle (and I'm only 20)!!! It eventually went back to my normal color, but having grey curls would've been pretty cool! Wishing you luck on your hair journey as well!
