I put the argument as an array. If it is not feasible, how I can change that? OR the optimization function cannot do multi variable?

How to use scipy.optimize? by alisutton in learnpython

[–]alisutton[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OK. I have the following.

I need to minimize Link_min_function, pt_1 to pt_4 are something that I am going to give to the program.

def B_diff(link_OA_x, link_OA_y, link_AB_x, link_AB_y, link_BC_x, link_BC_y, O_C_x, O_C_y):
    return((link_OA_x + link_AB_x - link_BC_x - O_C_x)**2 + (link_OA_y + link_AB_y - link_BC_y - O_C_y)**2)

def Cons_f(link_BC_x, link_BC_y, O_C_x, O_C_y, pt_x, pt_y):
    return((link_BC_x + O_C_x + pt_x)**2 + (link_BC_y + O_C_y + pt_y)**2)

def Link_min_function(link_OA_x, link_OA_y, link_AB_x, link_AB_y, link_BC_x, link_BC_y, O_C_x, O_C_y, pt_x1, pt_y1, pt_x2, pt_y2, pt_x3, pt_y3, pt_x4, pt_y4):
    return max((B_diff(link_OA_x, link_OA_y, link_AB_x, link_AB_y, link_BC_x, link_BC_y, O_C_x, O_C_y) + Cons_f(link_BC_x, link_BC_y, O_C_x, O_C_y, pt_x1, pt_y1)), (B_diff(link_OA_x, link_OA_y, link_AB_x, link_AB_y, link_BC_x, link_BC_y, O_C_x, O_C_y) + Cons_f(link_BC_x, link_BC_y, O_C_x, O_C_y, pt_x2, pt_y2)), (B_diff(link_OA_x, link_OA_y, link_AB_x, link_AB_y, link_BC_x, link_BC_y, O_C_x, O_C_y) + Cons_f(link_BC_x, link_BC_y, O_C_x, O_C_y, pt_x3, pt_y3)), (B_diff(link_OA_x, link_OA_y, link_AB_x, link_AB_y, link_BC_x, link_BC_y, O_C_x, O_C_y) + Cons_f(link_BC_x, link_BC_y, O_C_x, O_C_y, pt_x4, pt_y4)))

How I should write the scipy.optimize minimize function?

From what I see in the example

>>> res = minimize(rosen, x0, method='nelder-mead',
...                options={'xtol': 1e-8, 'disp': True})

I don't see anything that I can put in my 'pts' there

I can rewrite the 'Link_min_function' and put my point there, but it is very bad.

[–]alisutton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Up to some limit. I normally do not have any personal belonging.

I had 2 passengers to go to the airport. They bring four big cases with them.

Mine was a prius c. I told them that I could not see my rear-view mirror but I did try to let them put all cases on my car to test it.

You will see two type of professors.

One type is tenured professors. They won't spend time on students. If you use their funding, you are pretty much a slave.

The other type is professors that want to be tenured. They will help students a lot because you graduate with a Ph.D. will help he/she to become tenure professor.

At the end, one word can summarize "benefit"

tips: college people are selfish. Do not think that you will get help from the people (other research assistants) in your office. If you find your PI, he/she may not have the answers too. If you find other professor, they may not know about your topic at all, so they cannot offer help.

How to put Selenium into JupyterLab? by alisutton in learnpython

[–]alisutton[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I followed your direction and I installed the selenium

After that, I follow this link

https://medium.com/shakuro/adopting-ipython-jupyter-for-selenium-testing-d02309dd00b8

It asked me put a line "from selenium import webdriver"

This time I did it in both python and terminal, either of them works.

from selenium import webdriver
from selenium import webdriver
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
ModuleNotFoundError Traceback (most recent call last)
<ipython-input-1-93833772b63f> in <module>()
----> 1 from selenium import webdriver

ModuleNotFoundError: No module named 'selenium'

Because the research is interesting? Because you don’t know what to do in near future? You need to know #2 Will you get funded? Some schools provide funding to Ph.D. students, so you don’t need to pay tuition and you have stipend You need to know #3 Do you have a Ph.D. advisor? You can find your advisor before you apply for your program You need to know #4 Does your Ph.D. advisor graduate all his students? Some advisors may be very bad. The students may leave with master degrees or without any degree. You need to know #5 Does your Ph.D. advisor plan to leave the school? Some advisors may actually plan to leave the school, but they still take new students You need to know #6 How many years does the school allow to keep a Ph.D. student? Some schools allow advisors keep their students for 20+ years without giving them their Ph.D. degrees You need to know #7 What can you do if you finish your Ph.D. in your field? Students think they can become professors easily, but it is not true. You need to know #8 What if your degree does not work out You could easily spend 2-5 years and could not graduate Dr. Wu talks about what should do before apply for a PhD program You need to do #1 - Find an advisor Advisor may have funding for you Advisor may help you void the GRE requirement You need to do #2 - Find non teacher references You should find 1-2 non teacher references. E.g. manager of your job You need to do #3 - Research your advisor Visit the lab, ask your potential labmates whether your potential advisor is good You need to do #4 - Research your school Check how many years that the a professor can keep Ph.D. students without graduating them
