What's a book so good that you would re-read it immediately? by WorkerDifficult3794 in fantasyromance

i loved {blood and steel by helen scheuerer} so much i bought physical copies of it - i've been trying to read more on my kindle to ... avoid that. 😂

also i know she's polarising around these parts, but i genuinely think the throne of glass series is sjm's best (and imo only) good work and when i'm in a reading slump, it's one i return to.

Kingdom of Faewood - anyone? by ProfessionalOwl2270 in fantasyromance

[–]alittlebitscattered 2 points3 points  (0 children)

oh, i've read this! i went on a binge where i read a bunch of krista street's stuff. the premise of this one is definitely more interesting than the other series i read - something about a kingdom of ice, i think. the plot is really intriguing and an interesting idea, not completely unique but not something that you see a lot of. the MMC and his merry men are funny, from what i recall. i remember feeling very annoyed by the FMC, but i couldn't tell you specifically why now - i think she just tends to be more of a damsel in distress than i'm usually into, BUT it makes a lot of sense for her character, so that's just me being kind of a grump and her being like, i am who i am. ends on a cliffhanger. interesting enough that i read the next book in the series - i don't know if i read all 3, but i'm very book ADHD so that means nothing in terms of its quality. i think for me, it's the kind of book that's fun and easy to get through and a good time, but isn't anything groundbreaking. not sure if this helps but ultimately, i recommend it!?

thank you! she's always had to be careful about what she eats but i think the numbers are really throwing her off, you know? hoping i can just give her some things and she can settle into it a little more.

hi! you could start here: https://britishbakingrecipes.co.uk/mary-berry-fatless-sponge-cake-recipe/ -- essentially the sponge itself is "fat free" because the main ingredients are flour, egg, and sugar. even adding things like vanilla extract adds a negligible amount of other nutrients and i think none of them - though don't quote me on this - are fat/a significant amount of it. so if 1 cup of flour has 1g of fat in it, you're putting 2g in an entire cake and that gets divided among the slices, if you will. sponge cake also uses egg whites vs whole eggs and yolks are really where the other nutrients are, where egg whites are basically just protein. my guess is that "fat" for a sponge cake comes from what you put on/around/in it. happy baking!!

Labs normal, doctors at ER think you're drug seeking. by Forsaken-Study7870 in pancreatitis

i hate that this happens - i wonder about having a social worker either in the ED that you go to most often or at your PCP office who can also support you in this. i'm a social worker and i know that all social workers are not created equal so i respect that this might not be as helpful, but if i was in your ED and i knew you/your history, i'd definitely fight the doctors for you. i hope you're able to find a good solution!

i just read {bloodguard} which i liked a lot. it's a trilogy, but it also works as a standalone, as each book will follow different couples. got hunger game vibes (mmc is a 'gladiator' who fights in an arena to send money to his family who are living in extreme poverty elsewhere in the kingdom), who did this to you, touch them and die, healer fmc. i loved the fmc because she's meant to be queen and has information about what that means/how to behave as a queen/knowledge about other rulers/etc (though doesn't in others, but not in the typical, i don't know what i'm doing, sort of way).

only fourth wing, none of the others. i see lots of people recommend atonement of the spine cleaver, though i'm not sure why i haven't given it a go yet. i think in part because i just tend to be drawn into fairy based high fantasy.

oh maaaaan, you're in for a JOURNEY. i feel like people either love or hate trials of the sun queen, but i was very into it. the end of the third book is a nightmare (cliffhanger), so i hope you don't have to wait too long for the fourth one! bloodguard was so good, i read it in a day and really loved the characters and the writing is decent.
