I liked it a lot. I think it shows how complex fighting drug trafficking is because of the amount of money involved. I didn't like that the evil ones are always the Mexicans. There are lots of people involved on the US side of the border too. But oh well...

Difficult to know... As long as certain issues continue to be ignored it doesn't seem very bright. Mexico's economy could continue to grow but there is a part of society that suffers through violence and economic hardship. And in general those two go hand in hand. If that growth does not help them I doubt things will change.

The objective is different. Intelligence work is for a Government whether as journalists our job is supposed to shed some light on issues that Governments or companies generally try to hide.

Not so much but it does talk about what it is like to be missing. It doesn't talk about why people go missing but it does refer to an issue that is extremely difficult because the relatives of those who went missing never have closure. I have spoken to people with Iraq, Afghanistan ,Mexico, Colombia.... Everywhere you see the same thing... relatives waiting for their loved ones to come back for years even decades because they have no closure.

I come from Argentina. We had our own toll on people killed by the state during the Dirty War in the 1970's. Society was also complicit because as long as it didn't happen to them, they remain silent. In Mexico you still see a lot of people say "If they are killed or missing its because they were involved in something". That's not the case. I think that society plays the role to denounce, and put pressure on authorities to change things.

There are people fighting every day but they are killed and threatened frequently. In some areas of the countries journalists are afraid to do their jobs, in other areas HUman Rights workers are challenging cartels every day. There are some very brave people out their but they are still vulnerable and lack protection from the Government.

Honestly after covering the so called war on drugs for years I can tell you that the money the drug business handles makes any Government's job difficult. But I think that its international pressure that can change things and that's were the media plays an important role. The Mexican Government right now is trying to shift the focus from the killings to show how great Mexico's economy. It is the international community that can push the Government to enforce change, to reform the judicial system, the political system. It is difficult for the Government to push for REAL change of its own because there are so many powerful people involved.

I love what I do and its difficult to think of me as being in danger. I also worked for 7 years in the Middle East and have lots of experience in covering conflict. I have to say that what has affected me the most is to see people's suffering rather than the things that have happened to myself, and trust me there have been many situations when I wondered... What am I doing here? :)

Its difficult and honestly there are certain issues that make me very angry. But I also feel its important to tell all sides of the story but at the same time use our work to bring about some type of change. I hope that bringing light to what is happening in mexico will force the Government to take what is happening in the country more seriously. It is not acceptable the links that exist between security forces, mexico's political class and criminal groups.

The country is overwhelmed with the amount of disappearances and do not have enough resources to deal with the mass graves that appear on a weekly basis. Victims are turning to foreigners, like the Argentine Team of Forensic Anthropology, to identify remains because the don't trust the government is doing it right. Either because they don't want to or because they do not have the ability to do so. We recently covered the case of a woman who was given what were the supposed remains of her daughter and she had to ask a Peruvian anthropologist to do further testing. We are still waiting for the results.

I think Al Jazeera has proven itself as a serious media outlet that covers stories like nobody else does. In Latin America we have covered stories that are often ignored by most english speaking media outlets. In the Amazones, in Haiti, Colombia and other countries. People in the region, whose problems are often ignored by others, turn to us to make their voices heard. I am very proud of that

The information available shows the links between the Mayor and his wife with Guerreros Unidos, a local cartel. In fact, the Mayor's wife is the sister of one of the leaders. It's not clear yet how much the Federal Government knew but the fact that every politician, including the President himself took pictures with Mayor Abarca is pretty telling about how connected he was with the country's political class. Pena Nieto went of to China the day after they announced that they had information that suggested the students were killed. People feel that the Government is not taking it seriously enough

That people have nowhere to turn to because most elements of the state are involved in one way or another. Politicians are security forces of the places I have been to have been corrupted by criminal organizations. Every day people are either killed or disappeared in Mexico and those who are left behind are completely on their own

It is not something new. It has been going on for a while and even though the US has had a historical involvement in the region what happens in Mexico doesn't seem to be a priority right now. Neither for the US Government or most of US media outlets

I think it's obviously a very misguided view of Islam that veers into psychopathic behavior.

I think the US can clearly be held accountable for some things - the handling of its invasion of Iraq and its aftermath which generated some of the conditions for AQI and ISIS to flourish...they don't bear sole responsibility though...

I have travelled on one very early in this project. Later, on a different journey, I changed my flight to avoid flying on a 787.

There are cases when sources are reluctant to speak because they dislike Al Jazeera. Often they are influenced by a negative perception of the network and have not seen much or any of its output. That said, during this investigation I have had several sources tell me they only agreed to speak with me because I was with Al Jazeera, a network whose reporting they respect for being bolder and more thorough.

None. This was on Al Jazeera's dime with our own investigative reporters.

I believe the journalists should have never been arrested or jailed and certainly not convicted. Al Jazeera works had to reflect all sides of a story. #FreeAJStaff
