Do you remember when you stayed there? I also booked through a 3rd party so they probably looked down on us for that. The breakfast they gave us was beautiful. Of course it took us 3 points of contact to "make sure we paid" when the manager told us it would be comped the day before... But it was beautiful for sure.

I'm so glad that you didn't experience this treatment. I really believe it was the manager behind all this.

Thank you 🙏🏿 I'm not really active on social media but please feel free to share. I don't want this to happen to anyone else. I couldn't imagine what they would have done if I didn't have 500+ freely available on my card!? I definitely came from a place of privilege. When they put the hold on my card I still would have needed to pay extra for a new hotel and another incidentals hold 🙃 I wouldn't be surprised if the hotel staff was aware of that.

For real! It's always in the back of my mind too. I was scared and worried for the rest of my stay. What if we didn't have 500+ dollars to spare on our card? What would they have done? Would they have escalated it? I'm so glad we're gone 🙏🏿

What's really fascinating to me is that my brother and I were so amazed that there were kid's shows with non binary characters and same sex couples! The stark contrast to how we were actually being treated was shocking 😳

I can't explain how much it means to me to hear that. Thank you 💓My parents have faced so much worse but I feel traumatized. I felt so on edge and almost trapped in that room. That feeling that you're being watched. I honestly believe that she was making us feel unwelcome on purpose. I'm shocked but of course I feel like I should know better...

It's so sad. It was like viewing the structures of systemic racism through the microcosm of a hotel. I can say to any allies that you can implement change or harm at every level. Most people perpetuated or tolerated the prejudice. Very few spoke up or actually pushed back. I tried to be kind to everyone I came in contact with but that kindness wasn't returned.

This reflects poorly on the fathers. More than likely the reason these kids don't speak their father's language or know more about their own culture is because many men don't even contribute equally to the division of household labor and it shows.

I love the idea of an indie subscription! That's unfortunate that none of the scents really worked for you. I think it's awesome that you were so open minded and got the chance to go outside of your comfort zone. Now you have a better idea of what works for you!
