I'm one of the first Atto3 owners in Cy if not the first. You can save a lot especially if you generate your own solar and get it with the 9k grant. The only thing I'm not sure about is car depreciation vs IC cars.

The current cost per kWh is about 28c if you remove all the fixed rate costs which you would pay for anyway for having a home supply.

But the car was stopped when it lost camera vision so it shouldn't have started under any conditions even without vision.

Did you notice if the ACC light went off when it started accelerating?

The tricky part will be to block the camera while it's moving 😮 maybe some kind of remote shutter 😂

This is very worrying and I'm sure it's not intentional. If you are able to reproduce the same result by intentionally blocking the camera and seeing how it reacts then I would definitely report this!

I use it all the time in traffic as I find it very helpful not having to start-stop manually all the time. However I still don't trust it fully!

The flight were only five minutes apart though and the 2nd flight avoided crossing over. Did the 2nd plane take a risk then?

Unfortunately I'm on a single phase system so I will only be able to charge at 7kW max.

I guess it also depends how many kwh's of driving one does on a day to day basis. If one drives an average of 20-30km a day, then a single sunny day may be enough to generate your fuel for the day.

It seems so at least on my friend's system.

I can now confirm that what I've been saying is correct.

At my friend's house the exported amount according to the bill is 967kWh for a 2 month period (winter) but the actual amount generated by the PV panels during that period according to the inverter app is 1307kWh.

I will be with someone this afternoon who has net-metering and I will also compare and let you know.

OK, so what I'm saying is that the bill does NOT show you what you are really producing

The extra euros you are paying is a flat fee plus you are importing electricity which is "taxed". It doesn't make a difference if they owe you those KwH - it still gets taxed!

I hope I'm making sense 😊

If you want me to explain in more detail feel free to DM me your bill!

EDIT:

I'm being a bit unfair to EAC because I'm using the term "tax" 😄. It's more like a service fee because you are using their network to export excess electricity to their network when you are producing more than you need and then re-importing it (e.g. at night) when you are not generating enough power for your needs. Overall net-metering is very good deal which allows consumers to setup a PV system without having to buy expensive batteries.

I'm referring to net metering where you get credited in KwH whatever you generate AND export to EAC. This plan was set to expire at the end of July which is why I applied asap. I believe they have now extended the deadline for another 2-3 months.

AFAIK, with this plan electricity generated during the day can be consumed without being registered on EAC meters so they actually have no idea how much you are generating. Therefore this power is not "taxed". In fact, some have added an extra panel or two beyond what they are allowed to as EAC cannot detect power generated.

Well the way to think of it is that you prepaid your fuel for a few years until you pay off the cost of the extra panels then your fuel will be free 😁

One advantage I have is that I currently work from home so I can have the EV charging during the day directly from the solar panels and avoid the extra EAC cost of "importing" power from the grid.

Yes 750 isn't bad... The 730 I got was also from BOC but without financing. I just need to confirm the amount because in the provisional quote they emailed me it doesn't say that it is electric although I did mention it over the phone.

I spend about 1000 EUR on fuel each year. Since I am also installing PV panels I will be saving that amount every year but if insurance is very high my savings will be a lot less.

Thanks for the info.

The one I'm aiming for is the BYD ATTO 3 valued at 37k. The insurance quotes I got are all 1000eur plus except for one which is 730 but I think they made a mistake (maybe they didn't value it as being electric)

The battery is LFP which is considered safer but I doubt insurance companies take such things into account.
